Featured Opportunity - Seeking songs for LeAnn Rimes
http://www.musicxray.com/profiles/626
LeAnn Rimes is an American singer-songwriter and actress, best known for her work in country music. She is best known for her rich vocals similar to country music singer Patsy Cline, and her rise to fame at the age of 13, becoming the youngest country music star since Tanya Tucker in 1972.
Rimes made her breakthrough into country music in 1996. Her debut album, Blue, reached Number 1 on the Top Country Albums chart and was certified "multi-platinum" in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album's lead single of the same name (originally intended to be recorded by Patsy Cline in the early 1960s) became a Top 10 hit. With immediate success, Rimes attained widespread national acclaim for her similarities to Cline's vocal style. When Rimes released her sophomore studio effort in 1997, You Light up My Life: Inspirational Songs, Rimes went more towards country pop material, which would set the trend for a string of albums that would be released into the next decade.
Since her debut, Rimes has won many major industry awards, which include three Grammys, three ACMs, one CMA, twelve Billboard Music Awards, and one American Music award. In addition, Rimes has also released ten studio albums and four compilation albums through her record label of 13 years, Asylum-Curb, and placed over 40 singles on American and international charts since 1996.

5 Days Left to Submit Songs for Miranda Lambert
http://www.musicxray.com/profiles/626
Miranda Lambert is an American country music artist who gained fame as a finalist on the 2003 season of Nashville Star, where she finished in third place and later signed to Epic Records. Lambert made her debut with the release of "Me and Charlie Talking", the first single from her 2005 debut album Kerosene. This album, which was certified Platinum in the United States, also produced the singles "Bring Me Down", "Kerosene", and "New Strings". All four singles were Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.
After the closure of Epic's Nashville division, Lambert was transferred to Columbia Records Nashville for her second album, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which was released in early 2007. Although the title track failed to make top 40, the next three singles ("Famous in a Small Town", "Gunpowder & Lead", and "More Like Her") were all Top 20 hits, with "Gunpowder & Lead" becoming her first Top 10 country hit in July 2008. Lambert's third album, Revolution, was released in September 2009. Four singles have been released from the album, including Lambert's first Number One hit in "The House That Built Me," which spent four weeks at the top of the chart.
Lambert is only the third female country singer in history to have three records debut at #1 on Billboard Country Albums.

Boston Music Hack Day: Finally, ‘On Hold’
http://evolver.fm/2010/10/17/boston-music-hack-day-finally-on-hold-music-you-might-actually-enjoy/
Nobody enjoys waiting for a customer service representative to deign to answer their question, but too often, the music that accompanies the experience adds insult to injury. It’s simply impossible to choose “hold” music that everyone will enjoy, due to the wide variation in musical taste across the population.
The answer has arrived, for companies bold enough to implement Call Centers Suck — an app created by Musicxray CTO Jeff Durand at this year’s Boston Music Hack Day. Rather than subjecting every caller to the same music that most of them will not like, Call Centers Suck turns being on hold into a musical game of sorts, with a beneficial effect on their moods that could translate into smoother customer service for any company with a call center.
“Call centers are really boring and drive most people crazy,” explained Durand. “This project uses the Twilio VoIP service’s API to deliver a dynamic playlist and MP3(s) to the person on hold… After each song plays, the caller can rate the song, and The Echo Nest will find the next song based on the vote. When an agent becomes available, the call can be forwarded.”
In addition, Durand’s Call Centers Suck app stores a session key and the caller’s phone number so that every time a customer gets placed on hold, the music starts right where it left off, and gradually gets smarter about what to play by tracking how the caller rates songs. If all call centers ran this app, you could pick up right where you left off, each time, regardless of which one you’re calling.
There’s no way this app can completely remove the annoyance of being placed on hold, but it should go a long way towards reducing that annoyance for companies that want happier customers calling their centers — which is all of them.
