I'm enjoying "When The Morning Comes" on the RBF tour, Hollis! It has kind of a cool Gospel R&B vibe with the beat, organ and the choir backing! Cheers brother! Have a great weekend!
Thanks Bill.I wasn't sure if my backing vocals were over the top in trying to get that gospel vibe, but glad you picked up on it. Thanks for your comments again, folks on here are really supportive...
Thanks Robert. That song was written about the time I joined RN in 2017, but I always thought it was not good enough to put out there. Mind you, I have re-arranged it, the original was about 6 minutes long. Have a great weekend.
Dear Hollis, I am so glad you got your music back!!! You are so talented and I absolutely love your voice! It takes a lot of courage to get back on the horse after you have been thrown off. You should be proud. Thanks for finding me and sharing your amazing gifts! God bless!
Thank you so much Julie for your moving comments. And you're right, when I came back to music I wasn't even sure my songs or my voice were good enough.
When the Morning Comes is beautiful Hollis! Slick, cool and mellow on top of it.....I really love this tune much!! Sorry for my long absence too my friend, been caught up in a skitz episode, but working my way back:)......Much love always!....Anthony
Hi Hollis. I really enjoyed your remix of "I'm not afraid". Beautiful song and a better production, particularly the voice rendering, smoother and warmer sounding in my opinion. I know how hard it is, as musicians, to make the music sound as we imagine it to sound on a recording.
Hey Zon Key. Thanks for your comments. You are so right. Playing and recording the music should be pretty straight forward. But my problem, not being a producer, is usually mastering the track. Once I start tweaking things all hell breaks loose. If you're unhappy with the mix you effectively have to start again if you've forgotten what you tweaked! But I'm learning some new productions tricks which might help in the future.
Hey Hollis just love your remix/master of I'm not afraid and the email you sent us telling us what you were going for and what that song is all about - the "why" that has driven you to keep at it getting it "right" - getting it to reflect your emotions through a very difficult setback in your creative journey - that is so brave - that speaks to me - to my open mind and open heart too - that is the courage to create art bravely with no other expectations - happy we've connected sharing the songs of our lives - happy creative days ahead too : )
Thank you Mario. I think all artists whether painters, authors poets or musicians are blessed and cursed at the same time. It's a question of knowing where you are and where you would like to be and when you are happy with your lot. I am happy to have the gift of creation, because it is a gift that many don't have or haven't pursued. We can use that gift to make people dance or tell a story in such a way that they can relate to. So yes, my friend, let's keep creating :-)
