New Recording nearly finished...

Hey, Hi there again...further update 'Flash' ...to start with my favorite NFL Team won today...The Seattle Seahawks WooHoo!...as a result I felt compelled to work on...'On That Day' and with some suprise finished the recording with a guitar and percussion track added. Only Seven tracks total...the song is full enough, don't want to "Over Kill" the idea with too much stuff. Also I bagged using the GT Strat...has a ground problem that I couldn't dance around...kept a lot of noise in the mix no matter if I held the neck or found the zone to stand in...I'll have to repair it when I change the strings...the Floyd Rose Tremolo makes it difficult to work on because I need to pull the strings and pickguard off ( Houses all the electronics )to get to the ground at the Bridge pickup that probabaly needs resodering. So the picture I am adding...simular but different is because I played Valentine on this song...I think it tune out alright...and I also added a Tamborine to the mix... Spent about and hour listening after I finished reoording at various levels and adjustment, I want to get the mix as tight as possible...but have stopped untill tomorrow to give my ears a rest. I am looking forward to playing it for all of you here soon...Over and Out...NB

New Song...'On That Day' Update*

Just to reiterate what I have said before, I do this because I love it...Rock, Blues what ever you choose...for me playing music is about the connection, the emotion and the drama in a song, the build up for a slow boiling tempo or the Get in you face drive of a Rocker right from the opening beat or note. it is what makes music matter to me besides the message of the lyric if there is one and we all know it's up to the listener as to how they connect...most usually thats what will make a song great ( Popular ) or 'Pop' as it is commonly known. As I had told you before I have already started on my first new song for 2014 titled "On That Day" and things are going well. This morning I was able to lay down the basic Drum beat having already completed the Bass Guitar, Keyboards and Vocal...I had a half dozen listen throughs and various adjustment and came up with the mix for the first Bounce in my eight track recording. I am pleased so far. What comes next is a bit of a juggle, a Lead Guitar part for sure and perhaps some other hand percussion, I experimented a little this morning after jamming with the recorded tracks and have a good idea as where it will go but now it is a matter of time management with little time to spare. For those who care or pay attention to things like these, something I have learned is that it calls for the right amout of time. My ear has a tendonency to get tried which means it's time to take a rest and then there is the issue of trying not to rush the project, thats when I usually have failures and frustration because I overlook the simole things like saving the recording/data... The Keyboard turn out fantastic and off sets the Bass Guitar wonderfully. Tha Vocals is pretty good too, The basic Drums well it works, I don't have room for or have a real Kit so I make do... The really cool part about it is I am enjoying myself and I hope in some way that come out in the recording... Peace to the World and to all of you my friends, Peace!

New Lyric...

...Ok, so I will admitt I am very British Blues oriented...influenced by a lot of American/British Rock...Deep Purple gets a bum rap like alot of Artist because of popular air play...they wern't just about 'Smoke on the Water'... I have just completed a Lyric and was working out the Guitar last night on this new song...as soon as I can put together a Hammong sound which is in my head I think I'll start to put together a recording...it already sounds pretty cool...anyway here are the lyrics to start with...I'll keep you posted eah! Peace!

On That Day Written By: Burt K. Arthur/ NorthernBandit Copyright 12/29/2013

When your Mama left you on that day Oh the Angels did cry They felt so much pain

Things might have been different Surely some would say But you know they could not know They should not say

When the Autumn wind began to blow And the sky turned dark and black Like soot driven snow And all the birds of air went away …what a cold, cold day

Sometimes men wonder and wander in vain Sometimes they just want to die but they push on just the same

Ah the sorrow runs deep And the mighty will fall All that they’ll have left Is what they haven’t destroyed

As the sun slowly sinks in the Western Sky Night comes surrounding everything like on that dreadful day and the sun refused to shine …what a poor, poor boy

I want to say Thank you!

Reverbnation has been a blast but I am going to be limiting my activity for awhile, it appears my chart has bottomed out and because I am not making any monitary contributions the activity is restricted. At least thats what appears...I will monitor my messages and pop in occasionally...but this is not what I wanted to do in the first place...be a slave to data...actually talking to people is more of who I am...I appreciate all your talients and wish everone the very best...keeo on Rockin! Peace!

For All of You!

No matter where you live in this great world, this planet called Earth...wishing each and every one a Thanksgiving Day Celebration of Peace, Joy and Goodwill. ...and by the way if you haven't had an opportunity log on to my page and give a listen to all if not one of my songs...I share them all with you! Peace! Sincerely, Burt

Blues Lyrics....new

Ain’t Nothin Written by: Burt K Arthur/NorthernBandit Copyright 11/22/2013

The Blues ain’t nothin but a whole lotta pain Wake up in the morning everything seems gray Makes me wonder if there is any reason I should stay I know it nothing but the Blues So now I standing here in all this emotion Ain’t been losin sleep ain’t getting any younger I try my best to do everything that’s right I can’t think for you and you don’t tell me if I’m right Right now isn’t the time to tell you I can help I’v thought of everything I can but I can’t even help myself If I could snap my fingers so your blues would go away That’s the first thing I would do each and everyday Oh I know at times I’m really no help at all And the things that you are sufferin I can’t solve It just pains me so that right now all I want to do is cry But on second thought I just want to scream out and ask why oh why Yesterday is what it was and I can only feel sorrow You know I’m not the kind a man who would try to drink and run from tomorrow Yeah it’s true I would do anything for you All I can tell you though…it ain’t nothing… Ain’t nothing…ain’t nothing but the Blues

What Rock Music is!

...well what if we ask all of you out there in Rock and Roll Land... Ok, from my point of view and it is jaded because I grew up in the 70's which to this day I concider to be the birthplace of Rock...there are those that will debate it was the late 50's and 60's and rightfully so but the benifactor is 1967-1978/79...in my reference case. Mostly due to the influences of so many who helped us young want to be's to stretch the bounds of traditional country, blues, rockabilly, rock and roll into what I call Rock! There is no denieghing what came before and true to that from 1979 on Rock music has evolved into itself a new generation. It is true that perhaps I am what I said I never would become...that is one who gets stuck it the ruts of the past...but from very early on I had always concidered myself a 'Classic Rock Musician' and do to this day. I know that that limits the demographic of those who I can call my Fan Base but I can live with that...what I have difficulty with is thinking outside the relm I create from and have trouble understanding where the 'New Rock Music' has evolved to...I love where I have come from in music...it has a deep and enriched heritage that I feel wholely part of...to each their own and best wishes to Rock no matter your style...PEACE!

A question should we be asking...

Ok...so I wasn't born yesterday...and I do understand the advantages of payment to recieve "Promotion" but I must admitt I am concerned with the means to the end result...it has been a week now since I received notice of ' My last fan ' I have continued to add new material and posted blogs but that does not seem to be relivent. You tell me...I'm just a little old school, it has alway been with intention to be straight foreword if you are going to be truthful you respond or purhaps you don't...I guess the question is...How does this site actually work? My asumption was that 'Fans' would listen to the artists material...possably read the artists notes or blog...get to see what the artist is about and say something by message to the artist about the reason why the 'Fan' likes or dislikes the material or the Artists conception. I have not seen that here and that troubles me...does it bother you? I am a Singer/songwriter of my own accord...my ego is not inflated because of self glorifying banter, I create for myself first...and secondly only as a social connection to others...to share. Thanx for listening and understanding, if you don't, I accept you opinion as well. Peace. But the question still remains...is there anybdy out there? Now I've done it, I have opened Pandoras Box...if anything just be humane if you have something to add to or say about my candor. Thank You!

From The Land...2013 Veterans Day wish to you...

I originally wrote this song because of my acknoweldgement of the sacrifice so many have made in the Armed Service for me as well for others, My Father, a World War II VET. His father a WWI and WWII volenteer...and his father my great grandfather served as a Private during the Civil War... 98 Regiment, F Troop in Pennsulvania. Please...listen to this track and share it...my hope is that it is enjoyable to you and brings you to remember we all come home, know where we belong! Peace.

'Funny thing happened to me on my way to recording a song"

...Some ideas are meant to be shared, I think this is one of them...I won't fool myself or anyone else...I am a practicing Musician...been practicing for 40 plus years and haven't stopped...doesn't mean I'm that good either...I am practicing all the time...maybe someday when I grow up I'll be good at what I dobut you know...I hope the day never comes that I think I know it all...I love the way I am interqued by the explorations I make in creating sound...I'd like to think it is a new sound, maybe it is...probably it's not. Rock and Roll is a revolving door...I have no gimmicks, I like what I like. Hopefully you will share my excitement for music too! Peace!
