Summer is Here !

We played an outdoor event in a small city in Washington state last weekend to the 95 degree heat but we made it out alive! We are playing a private event on July 3rd and frontman Bruce Maier is playing a Blues Show every Thursday evening from 7 -11 pm near Olympia WA .The BMB plays for many civic and private and outdoor events in the summer!

Best BMB Band Ever !

With the addition of Mike " Dr Silk " Shea on Saxophones and harmonies, the band is well rounded out and capable of tackling just about any genre of music from Funk, Rock, Jazz, Folk, Blues and Country. Since everyone sings, the vocals have become a whole new orchestral section and the overall sound is rich and full. The BMB has a great time together off and on stage and that we believe will take them a very long way !

Not The Big Time, But A Great Time

Because of the web magazine I write for I've been lucky to meet and share stories with musicians and bands all over the world. The similarities in a group from France or Italy to bands living near Seattle or Orlando are many. Though it's romantically believed by the general public that we're all on huge arena stages, traveling in a big Coach or private plane we are mostly out there hustling to find club gigs, weddings or any possible outdoor venue opportunities which will place the band in front of a lot of people at one time. It's how we get good and it's also how we pay the bills. And, though many musicians are known for their on-stage and in studio skills, lot's of us have or have had " day jobs " to support our passion of music and entertainment. So then it comes down to the fact that we all know it's a long road to the big time, the 70k stadiums and the Billboard top charts. We're not naive, but we do dream and we do plan ahead. It's just that we are having such a good experience doing what we do that we're not at all disappointed it's not the so-called Big Time . It's always a great time!

Weddings and Anniversary Gigs

The Bruce Maier Band played one last night and we had a blast putting on a show for various ages and members of the families . For all the bands out there who are holding out for the big arena gig to come through, my advice is play, perform, keep your chops up and pay your bills playing music rather than pumping gas or flipping burgers. It's what you love right?

We rocked them at The Lady !

Saturday night we played a nice dinner house called The Lady Of The Lake on Offut Lake near Olympia and Tenino Washington. The band was well rehearsed and full of fire! Opening with our own rendition of Rod Stewart's immortal " Maggie May " and proceeding onward through a barrage 1 hr 45 min set of Originals, Rock, Pop, Blues and Ballads, we only had time for a 5 minute break and then we were back at it. Featuring our singer Kim Pilz on more Rock and Blues tunes than ever and engaging the fans there on the dance floor, we finalized the night with our very own original song featured right here on RN, " Never Coming Down " !

Bruce Maier Band Rocked !

The BMB played a show for a local fraternal organization, the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #1109 in Chehalis Washington on Jan 16th. Huge crowd, immense dance floor with over 100 dancers at a time but many more in and out the doors of the evening. Proud of the Bruce Maier Band!

So much music!

Bruce got to play a show with Nashville singer-songwriter and Reverbnation artist Ben Potter on January 8th 2016 at the Station Coffee Bar & Bistro to a standing room only crowd. Friends for over thirty years this was the first time the two had been able to co-host a show which was the kickoff event for the new Songwriter's Showcase at the venue. Then the Bruce Maier Band played a private event performing a mix of originals and select covers on Saturday night. Bruce will be hosting a Wednesday night Blues Jam at another regional club along the old Highway 99. Now in it's six month the Blues Jam is going stronger each week with sold-out crowds. Bruce will be going into the studio again very soon to begin work on the new record. Stay tuned !

Working on new songs

Last night I had a great rehearsal 1 on 1 with Kim Pilz where we were able to finally begin work on one of her own compositions and a fantastic cover of the immensely popular Amy Winehouse song " Back To Black ". Kim's vocal range is quite close to that of the late Winehouse and we hope that by including this song in our shows we can promote the gifted writer who she was, gone long before her time. Having the ability to do originals and covers has always made this band stand out and having a team who can feel someone else's work and play it with true heart I think is rare. Bruce J Maier
