The Granny Whites / Press

"Word is starting to spread about The Granny Whites. They’ll rock your face off, but according to their website, they’ll reattach it with superglue because they care about you."

“Ladies Night”

“ I got to see two great bands last night at Zazoo's Bar and Grill. Please check out the music of The Granny Whites and Mananabango. They contributed greatly to probably the best night I've had since moving to Louisville.”

“February 28 Fuzz Face and The Granny Whites Double Record Release Party Mercy Lounge 1 Cannery Row, Nashville 7 p.m. $8 CD releases are not rare in Nashville. However, a double CD release show featuring a self-proclaimed “queer folk-rock” band and a group of young ladies who consider themselves exceptionally grandmotherly is. Fuzz Face is coming to the Mercy Lounge to debut their first album. This all-male, folk-rock band describes their sound as “fun, twangy and sexy” and is upbeat and fun, not lacking in traditional folk instrumentation. Performing after Fuzz Face are The Granny Whites isan all-girl group who have made a name for themselves playing in Nashville hotspots like 12th and Porter and Mad Donnas. The girls say their music doesn’t fall under any genre, but their soulful vocals and rhythm say otherwise. The Granny Whites’ main gimmick is their ability to add a little “granny” to every song. Curious to know what that means? Check out the concert. ”

“Meet The Granny Whites An equally awesome music trailblazer, The Granny Whites make their own genre, mixing traditional guitar, drums, and keys with instrumentation like the ukulele, banjo, accordion, and even spoons. The five-female group, when they aren’t rocking, are involved with several charities including the Second Harvest Food Bank, Make A Wish Foundation, Nashville Humane Association, Women Rock For The Cure, and YWCA Nashville. These talented local bands create an original sound that will seep into your soul and make you want more. Join the celebration on February 28th with Peeled Labels Entertainment Group and special guests Johnathan Kayne from Project Runway, Salomé Cabaret, Annette Williams Crabtree, two-time Grammy Award Winner John Hill, and many more. ”

" something magical is converging. the world is going to need something to hold onto to understand the slow economic collapse and wars. The Granny Whites will offer a place to take them away from the storm." Cornelius "Popcorn" Robertson - Cornelius "Popcorn" Robertson, Nashville Song Writers Festival Music Row(Jun 13, 2012)

“This is my weekend pick and it’s at the intimate Haymarket Whiskey Bar. Two all-female bands and both are completely entertaining as stand-alone acts. From Nashville, The Granny Whites, if they invited dudes into the band, would have Tom Waits standing first in line. They have just released their first EP, a perfect mix of truly non-defining sound. The Granny Whites toss in the best of American invented music and play the hell out of it. Jazz? Americana? Rock? Ukulele? Yes. This fivesome will make you thankful you took the chance.”

“I sure enjoyed the pickin' party on WMLR today! Y'all have a really amazing sound! I hope y'all have great success. Thanks again for stopping by the Playhouse! :D”

"The Granny Whites are too interesting to be in a Nashville box"

"They Steal Your Face" The Granny Whites are a five member, all female band that if you give them a chance, will definitely steal your face. A little bit rock, a little bit folk with a whole lot of soul, they rocked out the Lipstick lounge that night. In their own words they are….. JK Camardella (uke, guitar, banjo, vocals) , Daphne Culver (guitar, piano, accordion, vocals) Jacki Macri (mindblowing drums, washboard other percussion instruments) Rometrius North (bass guitar, guitar, sax, clarinet) Anna Bethany Hogue (vocals, tambourine, spoons, did we mention vocals?!) Butch Worrell, Concert Photos Magazine

"A soulful group of musicians who make music from the depth of their being. With a steep root in jazz and folk, The Granny Whites also sprinkle in a dash of Americana to get your mountain self begging for more. " - Kara Della, Caramel Apple Publishing

“Perry County’s Music on Main Street radio show and concert comes to Linden this Saturday night, June 9, at 7:30 PM, with a couple of successful Nashville songwriters and the all-talented, all-girl, all-acoustic band, The Granny Whites, on the schedule. Word-crafters Wood Newton and Jim Sales have collectively written songs that have sold millions on the country music charts.”

"Daphne Culver has a style and energy like that of Carol Channing meeting the energizer bunny. JK Carmadella, multi instrumental and talented, injected the "Granny" twist to Michael Jacksons "Billie Jean" leaving you wanting more Jackson song makeovers. The backbone of the band, Jacki Macri (drummer) and Rometrius North (bass guitar) keep the group balanced delivering a percussive energy with an expressionless mask...that sucks you into the "Granny Lair" Finally, the performance of "Jolene" by Anna Bethany Hogue delivered the hard candy coating on the M&M. Anna adds a diversity to the group with an angelic vocal sound and style all her own." Lucinda Perry - Restock Music Festival
