“Is it hard to break into the SA music industry? Stephen-“The South African music industry is a hard shell to crack in comparison with countries such as UK and the States. The record labels in South Africa (are there any?) cater for a general sound, making it a lot more difficult to get your material aired. For this reason bands take the independence (working without the beneficiary label) and drive their own passage towards success/exposure, making it a longer process and challenging to come up with something that will sell.” ”
“Being the first of their kind surely – I sure haven’t heard any other Afrikaans metalcore yet – I see big things happening for this band. If they manage to stick to the winning recipe they have for this album, they will become pioneers in the new wave of metal bands emerging from the growing metal community in South Africa. “New Wave Of South African Heavy Metal” anyone? Get used to it…”
“Read about the band and what there plans are for 2013 since the band made a few changes to there set-up. We are a quintet band, trademarking ourselves as ‘Rugsteek die Waarheid’. Usually we introduce the band from a stage perspective, ha! But you have one of each: that will be a Shaun Jansen on one guitar, a Ray Boschslappin’ da bass, a Jacques Koen on the other guitar, a Stephen Purcell hitting up the drums and vocals and a Johannes Otto on lead vocals. We all generally contribute equally to the band, but narrowing it down to the writing process, Shaun and Jacques writes most of the tracks and Stephen writes the lyrics, or in co-lab with the other members, Ray does most of the marketing for the band.”
