"Outposts is a great followup to Resurrection Road. Craig's vocals are at once both haunting and welcoming. His voice, to me, hearkens back to the raspy balladeers of the eighties but the content and meaning of the words transcends all of that; as well as the musicality. The album should be listened to in a linear fashion to appreciate the greater story but some of the songs are much more powerful, such as Nevermore, Lost in a Storm, and the titular Outposts. Craig Spector is a truly talented writer and musician, and Outposts is an unforgettable piece of work that succeeds on many levels."

“I've sat down with Craig with 2 guitars & - to quote Joni Mitchell - "poured out the sorrow to the sound hole & the knee". He's a phenomenal guitar player -- try for instance, "Fade 2 Black" or "Lonesome Lullaby". But layered over that exquisite guitar, you'll find stunningly difficult & beautiful lyrics. Listen to "Cold Wind Blowing". A stunning song. And "2 Make 3 Make 1", "One 2 Go" are so marvelous & so delicate the way the guitar notes swim around an achingly human voice. The aptly named "Pain" honors any suffering you've ever experienced. "Love is Just a Word You Say" speaks directly to the modern addiction of throw-away relationships ("chemicals in the brain")... And yet, in his own voice, broken, even lacerated, he insists adamantly that Love is real. That's a heroic act. In these songs lies a willingness, an openness to say what is - to speak as a human. Sometimes that requires looking at our suffering - and refusing to stop there - turning them into delirious song. ”

"After reading early SplatterPunk horror classics by Skipp & Spector, no one could blame eager listeners for expecting mid-period Metallica Kirk Hammett frantic power riffs tempered with Journey melodies... but what we have here is the illegitimate love child of post-rehab Steve Earle and post-Velvets Nico wrapped up in a blues blanket of sorrow and loss and the endless search for love; Springsteen's stripped down Nebraska era lyrics of longing, but without the Tobacco Road desolation. Surprisingly, some of these songs caress you like a lover's lullaby." "Long before there was Craig Spector, Writer, there was Craig Spector, Musician, who, from an early age, had been weaving narrative webs of sound. Like his novels, his compositions were emotionally charged, visual, evocative and superbly crafted. Despite his novels and screen work, Spector's impressive body of musical work has largely remained hidden away from public ears. Until now.

“Thanks to North Carolina-based Crossroads Press, a long starved, faithful audience can finally feast on the works of Spector The Musician with the release of SO-LO, a rich, powerful eCD which is guaranteed to surprise the writer's world-wide legion of fans an inevitably generate a new audience for the multi-talented storyteller."”

"SMASH-CUT could be the Cream for the 21st century. I'll slap down a c-note in Vegas an' bet the black 21 these boys will blow away audiences, win converts, and take no prisoners any time they play live."

"Spector's rock and roll prose, his you know them characters, his bullet to the brain plot are what's important. As it happens, storytelling skills, characterization and good prose are what make UNDERGROUND compelling reading."

Rick Kleffel - NPR

“This horror soundtrack (THE BRIDGE: SOUNDTRACK FOR THE MOVIE IN YOUR MIND) has everything you'd want in it: horror, hilarity, passion, electric, acoustic, singing, rockin', droning, tribalish drums, eerie, creeping, instrumental, effects, groovin' and dark doomin'! Enjoy (read the novel first!) ”

“For reasons that are impossible to explain, the book that made me want to be a writer was Stephen King's Firestarter. The book that made me realize I had to be a writer was John Skipp & Craig Spector's The Bridge. ”

"A festering supernatural scourge provides a group of aging Gen X‐ers with one last opportunity to revive the idealism of their youth in Spector's horror redux of The Big Chill... Spector writes with the brio and energy of his splatterpunk heyday to yank readers in and keep their attention."

"Craig Spector's UNDERGROUND does that rarest of deeds: it scares deliciously. It sounds a dark musical note of danger that resonates long after the book is done. Beautifully written, it takes you through the mirror and by the hand... and I do mean by the hand."

"Spector (THE LIGHT AT THE END) is a strong writer who convincingly re‐creates the dark, often gruesome world of paramedics and firefighters. Not for the faint of heart, Spector's latest is for lovers of the best psychological thrillers, along the lines of Ruth Rendell's."
