“Orange County’s Unit F was about to return with another full-length when they experienced a tumultuous lineup change. These four songs are the last that were recorded with their most-recent players before the recent shift. As always, they play mid-tempo, well-produced, anthem-laden punk. The vocalist adds some gruffness this time, which mixes well with his morose Larry Damore stylings that his fans are accustomed to. Hopefully Unit F forges on with its new makeup, as these tracks demonstrate a healthy ability to evolve. –Art Ettinger (Self-released, unitfmusic.com)”
“UNIT F: Ecocide: Songs of Dysfunction: CD Orange County’s Unit F returns with a fourth full-length of mid-tempo highly produced punk. They’ve been through some lineup changes, and this album is self-produced. Greg Hetson of Circle Jerks / Bad Religion fame, who previously produced them, was still involved in this album’s mixing. As was the case with their prior releases, the vocals carry the day, with a morose tinge that makes me think of Bonecrusher. If that big label sound isn’t a turnoff for you, Unit F is well worth checking out.”

“UNIT F: Comes the Day: CD September 20, 2016 These Orange County (Calif.) locals have been at it a while now—I personally remember coming across these guys a few good years ago, though I believe them to be a completely different lineup with the exception of vocalist Mel Schantz. That said, this CD sounds as fresh and full of piss and vinegar (as my father used to say) as I remember them to be. Schantz has a somewhat unique delivery that comes across as some unholy mix of classic Southern Californian melodic and East Coast street punk. Song themes tend toward the sociopolitical, but thankfully fall short of, say, Anti-Flag. Circle Jerk Greg Hetson is featured on a track but for the life of me, I couldn’t tell. –Garrett Barnwell (Self-released, unitfmusic.com)”
“UNIT F: Comes the Day: CD September 20, 2016 Orange County’s Unit F is back with their third full-length of extremely catchy, mainline melodic punk. Notably, Greg Hetson of Circle Jerks/Bad Religion fame is one of the producers of this outstanding release. Hetson also assisted in the recording, bringing uncommonly experienced ears to the table. I really dig the vocals, which have a slight melancholia to them, almost harkening to Bonecrusher or Pegboy. It’s oddly refreshing to hear a band this good release an album with such slick production. No one’s giving Unit F anything less than an “A.” –Art Ettinger (Self-released, unitfmusic.com)”
"...By balancing grim themes with dark humour, the band shows a level of social awareness that extends beyond surface value. Needless to say, anyone who loves music that challenges them to think for themselves should pick up American Shutdown..."
“...Hard-driving, old school punk... dripping with raw political insight.”
"The album is awesome. I haven't heard that style of punk rock ever. Good stuff."
“Greg Hetson describes his time in the studio with Unit F: "...Seriously, ...the world needs more bands like Unit F that combine good music with intelligent lyrical content."”
