Badland Bandits / Press

“The Badland contingent took no prisoners during their set, instead they opted to take the stage as their own and stomp all over it kickin' out the muthafuckin' Bandit jams like Eighties sons o' bitches born a decade or two too late. Their set was full of confidence and an incredibly high standard of musicianship. Seriously looking forward to catching them live again, hopefully sometime soon, as they're a great band to watch while having a few drinks”

"If AC/DC heard this band, they would sh*t themselves!"

Dare Mason (Producer) - VIP Lounge Studio

“It's easy to see why one producer they worked with proclaimed: "If AC/DC heard this band they'd shit themselves!" I believe what AC/DC would probably do is shake each of them by the hand and say: "Thank fucking God, with bands like the Badland Bandits coming up through the ranks the future or rock and roll is in safe hands!" ”

“we had Badland Bandits and their set actually surprised me. Having not seen them for a couple of years they've evidently come a long way and honed their craft quite remarkably with some incredibly mature guitar playing that belies their young years, not to mention Adam Vickery's strong presence as an immensely confident singer. To encounter such a young band writing their own music and lyrics with a real raw passion to succeed in the industry today is quite humbling, so easy would it be to just become another covers band playing the same old tunes. Quickly rising up as one strong contender for bigger and better things the Bandits have developed an array of songs with rock solid grooves, good melodies and hooks on which to hang your coat. They are definitely a band on a mission. ”

“The years final band was the BotB 2012 sleaze rock bad boys, Plymouth based Badland Bandits. Take a slug of Guns and Roses from the "Appetite heyday", throw in a decent measure of "Motley Crew", add a liberal sprinkling of Jack Daniels and then throw in a fantastic vocal range, top showmanship and a set that was tighter than a snare drum and this was just a fantastic way to finish the BotB 2012 competition. Taking the win for this years Battle of the Bands and walking away with the prestigious Battle of the Bands trophy, donated by Jackie at Pearsalls the Jewellers, were Badland Bandits who also won an EP recording package from Alive Music, a custom guitar from Earthwork Guitars and a stage backdrop from SWH Signs. ”

“Plymouth's Badland Bandits are fast gaining a well earned reputation around the south west as hard drinkin', big riffin' rock 'n' roll rebels. With a taste for eighties excess and sleazy rock they spit out a captivating array of sounds mixing GNR grooves with Motley melodies to give themselves an arsenal of tunes tough enough to help take them to the next level. Proving they've got their sights set firmly on only going in one direction, up, Badland Bandits took on the chance to play their own headline show at Tavistock's Wharf venue taking them a step up and making people sit up and take notice that they mean business. Able to take a 400 capacity crowd it's entertained a wealth of talent with the likes of Imelda May, Joe Bonamassa and The Levellers all having trodden the Tavistock boards so headlining The Wharf was a chance to show local fans what they could do on a bigger stage. ”

“A run through of forthcoming single 'When The Angels Came' capped a set that showcased perfectly an exciting British band that musically have much more in common with the likes of Buckcherry and Hardcore Superstar than Jettblack or Crazy Lixx. They walk the walk, talk the talk and drink the Jack. They have an undeniably raw edge to their music and their performances are populated by great on stage personas that give them the ability to leave their live shows bristling with a 'Live Like A Suicide' type energy. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing where the road these guys are travelling takes them, definitely a band to keep an eye on. If you've yet to catch a live Bandits gig you really are missing out. ”

“PLYMOUTH rock band Badland Bandits play their last city show at C103 in Union Street tonight before heading off on a 19-date tour of Europe on Tuesday. The band, which consists of Adam Vickery on vocals, Rob Newland on bass, Dave Crane on guitar and Daniel Skinner on drums, will hit Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Italy and Bosnia. Rob says: "We are touring as support for an American band called Lord Bishop Rocks after being suggested by our mates Those Dirty Words, a Lancashire band who toured with them last time they were in Europe. "We'll be playing quite a range of venues, some in local clubs, but some also in quite big venues. The largest place is in Sloga, Bosnia where we'll be performing to around 2,000. "We play classic hard rock and they play more funk rock, but I think our styles will be quite compatible. We have to get ourselves to Germany for the start of the tour, then we'll all be travelling in the same tour bus together – which will be interesting, seeing as w”

“CITY rockers Badland Bandits return home to play the Voodoo Lounge tomorrow night, fresh from a triumphant performance at the Okehampton Battle of the Bands last weekend. The riotous rockers secured a win after a blistering 20-minute set of rock'n'roll that brought the 2000-plus crowd to their feet, leaving no one in any doubt of who should be the victors. Their prize? A brand new guitar plus studio time and dosh for the manufacture of a new promo backdrop. The lads are back in town to play the second in the monthly series of Rock of Ages 80s and 90s Rock Night. They will be peppering their show with a bunch of new songs in among their regular crowd pleasers, as a warm-up for their show at the Purple Turtle in Camden, London, next week. ”

“Second band on and eventual winners, Badland Bandits were a very high-energy outfit who provided a classic rock sound, which could have come straight from 1980s. The audience clearly loved this and they wowed with a lesson in rock theatre with air punching, a guitar solo behind the head and shouts of "make some noise" to which the audience responded enthusiastically. Each band member demonstrated a mastery of rock techniques, particularly the guitarist with his quick and complex style. Over all it was hard to fault the band's performance and they emerged as eventual winners because they brought big tunes, fun and first-class showmanship. ”
