we have some sad news for you, our fronter Nils will be leaving the band. This is what he has to say:
“Dear Friends, Fans and Haters,
after almost 9 years of music with Todtgelichter, which meant passion, ecstasy, family, and my world, we decided, that I will no longer be a member of the band.
Due to musical differences and my private life, I could not come up with the effort that Todtgelichter needs - to be what it is now and what it will be in the future. Still I will always remember the time as the best I have ever had so far.
There will be one last chance to see Todtgelichter on stage in the current line-up at Grünspan (Hamburg) on 06/30/2012.
Since Metal has been a huge part of my life for quite a while now, I will continue playing music whatsoever to keep up with the shitty times, just not as a part of Todtgelichter.
Thanks to all the people that believed in us and have supported us over the years.

another live-event for you. We're going to perform at the
21. Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig, Germany!
Date: Friday, 25.05.2012, at the Kohlrabizirkus Leipzig. Stage time around 17:30 - please check the schedule at the festival area!
And, surprise - we will be introducing a new face to you there, as we're a six-piece now. Nils has expressed the wish to concentrate solely on the male vocals, so we hereby proudly present to you Chris, our new Bass player! He has played in local melodic Death Metal band NIMBUFERA until recently and will perform his first gig as permanent member of TODTGELICHTER at the WGT 2012.
Be there, don't miss this! For the Metal-oriented crowd there will also be AMORPHIS, FINNTROLL, SECRETS OF THE MOON and DARK FORTRESS.

as promised we can start the year with the news you have been waiting for! The successor to "Angst" is in the making, and though it will probably take until the (very) early year 2013 until it is actually released we can already share some info with you:
We are going to enter the HAMMER STUDIOS to record everything under the very competent supervision of Eike Freese in November 2012. This setup has proven itself to be the most effective one regarding TODTGELICHTER, and the next time will be no exception; in fact we´re planning to take everything to a yet again completely new level of expression while still. It should be very clear now that the name TODTGELICHTER stands for evolution, progression and quality; so those expecting a "Was Bleibt... 2", "Schemen 2" or even "Angst 2" will - as far as we can tell after three nearly finished songs - once again be disappointed. That´s the way it goes. But rest assured, it will be 100% TODTGELICHTER - as always!
The lack of oxygen - the panic - the darkness - the deep sea - the endless space - the commitments robbing freedom - the restrictions of our times - the crushed chest - sometimes we can´t breathe, sometimes we don´t want to breathe. And sometimes we need to free ourselves to breathe, because a complete and relentless awareness makes it impossible to. We can hereby officially announce the title of the forthcoming fourth album of TODTGELICHTER -
"Apnoe"!
