Booneytunes

I have had the good fortune to be chosen by "Wounded Warriors" to show my art at their event in Madison Wisconsin over Veterans Day 2013. The power of creativity over PTSD and stressors brought on by war counter balances the wounds of war. Painting has replaced making music for me. Agent Orange has robbed me of the musician I once was but I can play my guitar for about an hour now and I am greatful for that......Making Art Not War.....Jim Walktendonk

My gig at The Wisconsin Veterans Museum in downtown Madison Wisconsin went very well. Hugo Keesing, from Bear Family Records in Oldendorf Germany, was on hand for a three day event high lighting "Next Stop Is Vietnam, The War On Record 1961-2008" I was part of a three Vietnam Veteran singer, songwriter panel that included Marty Heuer, Lem Genovese, and myself. We spoke and answered questions from the audience and it was a blast. There is something in the compolation for every musical taste and it is bound to please and piss you off. As a result of the afternoon, the curator of exhibitions at The Wisconsin Veterans Museum, asked if I would consider an exhibit of my paintings at the museum along with a musical performance. Of coarse I said yes and it is tentatively being planned for late Spring of 2011. This is an honor for me and my family and all the friends that have encouraged me over the years. Thank you all............Jim

"Bob Kastenmier's Campaign Song"

Of all the politicians Sukie and I have had contact with throughout 34 years of The Agent Orange Struggle, the one who rises above the Frey without a doubt, is Congressman Bob Kastenmeier. He opened his office to Sukie, when the VA said no, while Zachary played under his desk and Ree Anne sat on his lap he talked to Washington DC. And Helen Vuchelic was and is a Fairy God Mother who helped with logistics, copies, phone you name it Helen did her magic. Our gratitude and love goes out to them both. Now the Lyris

Bob Kastinmier is a friend He's Honest Tried and True He's helped the Nam Vet many times Environmentalists to If half of Washington was half as eager To put less into War This country would be back on top Instead of slamming doors On Clean Air and Clean Water and Social Security to He'd be less apt to profit folks That build bombs that might kill you

So I sing to the incumbent, A guy who's proved his worth I wish we had a thousand of him It would be Washington's rebirth So lets all help elect him Deserving as he is. His voice is ours and ours is his Respected Honest and gee whiz He knows a lot more than Show Bizz Yes Robert is our man Yes Robert Is the man.

Twas a blast to write, and it debuted at a fund raiser for Bob held at a Law Professors home near Tenny Park. As it happened, I sang in his class at The UW Madison, which directly led to an appearance on PBS in 1985 and that led me to "HBO's Welcome Home Concert" held in Washington D.C.in1987. My dream gig. I performed between James Brown and Stevie Wonder. Coincidence? I think not.Goddess Bless you Robert and Helen. My HBO gig is on Reverbnation friends.

Soon I will have to move my paints indoors. The light of morning sunrise is a beautiful yellow red hue in the Summer months. Of coarse the colors are moving into winter blue white light which is beautiful in it's own way. I will miss the outdoors but embrace the next phase of seasons. Like Zachary always said, "Advance daily, becoming more skillful than yesterday, more skillful than today. This is never ending" Wise words my friends. I remain a War Dogman in Gillingham Jim and Sam
