Tricky Situation / Blog

Back in the Saddle again !

Well folks it has been a while.....We have been laying low for about a year due to scheduling conflicts and real life. Our lead Guitarist OJ has gotten too busy in being a new Dad and all the great things that come with that! He is still lying low and we hope he will sit in with the band on occasion. Our former guitarist Josh has come back to the fold and we welcome him with open arms. Tricky Situation is ready to get back out there and rock ! If you know of a good venue in or around San Antonio let us know.

I Don't do Facebook !

I hear this from Bands and Venue owners sometime and it makes me cringe. What ?? That statement makes no sense to me.You have an opportunity to use a social media tool to attract new fans and grow your base that cost you nothing and you say no thanks like it's some kind of evil telemarketer calling you at dinner. The biggest excuse is I don't have the time....Really? you can't take 20 seconds to post a blurb about where you are playing next or what kind of activities are happening at your venue. It reminds me of people in business that say "I don't do email...Just fax it to me" I always think in the back of my mind that that person will be out of business soon. If you are a venue owner you can research bands and determine if they should be playing your venue. Unfortunately for bands venue owners would rather you come and play for free a couple times to determine your worthiness (oh and be sure to bring fans with you so they make some money while you do your thing for free) This may work for high school bands but most grown up bands have been around the block a couple of times and see no value in this !

Practice makes Perfect !

Being in a band is fun. It is also challenging. You have many different personalities, taste of music and lifestyles. Practice seems to be the hardest thing to coordinate. You look forward to it but know in the back of your mind someone can cancel in a moments notice. We have been lucky over years and most practices workout.Summertime seems the most challenging due to family schedules.I am flexible to a point but when you stop practicing you can't be perfect. (blown practice today...bummed out)

September to be a Rocking month for the band

Looks like we will be playing a gig almost every weekend in September. That is if everything goes off without a major hiccup. It's not to late to book us for this month. For some reason we have had no bookings this month. Oh well thats the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. We have had lots of time to practice and add new material which will be lots of fun to perform in front of a crowd so some good has come from having a slow month. Peace, Love and rock n roll Tricky
