Hello Everyone,
The Brett Lewis Quartet is a newly formed jazz group of established musicians from Bristol, UK.
We perform my compositions purely because I thought it about time to write my own tunes after 40+ years of playing the music of the giants of jazz.
Based on the music that came out of the jazz clubs of New York and the West Coast sounds, I wanted to create the same type of musical atmosphere where the music was melodic and catchy but especialy that it swings. Along the way I wanted to incorporate what I had learned over the last 10 years from performing Gypsy Jazz. So hopefully you'll discern a crossover of European and American jazz influences in my tunes.
Our first show was at the Tobacco Factory in Bedminster, Bristol and we captured some of the tunes from there which I have added to this site; as well as photos taken by two of my friends - Paul Tutton and Anthony Manning.
Now we have created our Reverbnation site we can promote the band and hopefully play at more venues.
I continue to write for the band and we're looking to get in the studio to record our first CD which will be called Crosstown.
Keep listening and recommend us to your friends.
See you out there
