Two new songs: 1. What about Now? 2. I said that I do.

I posted a couple of new songs including "What about Now?" A country song I wrote. The very fine vocalist Sarah Aili is singing lead, with Gawain Mathews on Guitar, Bass, and backing vocals, and Brian Collier on drums.

The second song "I said that I do" is a rough mix of a song I'm singing. Gawain's playing acoustic and bass on this one, and Brian's on drums.

"Temporary Sanity" should be up late next week.

Hi Everyone, I hope to have the mixed version of "Temporary Sanity" by late next week. For those of you who know the song, I made a couple of changes to the melody that I think really opened up the track. Can't wait to let you hear it.

Have a great week!

Rachel

"Temporary Sanity" is coming soon...

The next few tracks to come back from the mixer will be the rockier tracks on the album. "Temporary Sanity", "Sketchy", and "Julia" are all mid to uptempo rock/pop. After these get done, I've got "Mlll Valley Matinee", a folk/rocky song in the vein of Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me". Lots of guitars and a mandolin on that one!

Beyond these songs, there are two new tracks that *may* make it on the album. "Note to self", which is a bit floaty and Coldplay-esque in the chorus, and "Alibi", a sort of Garbage-style ballad. I may push them out to an EP later in the year so I can get my current album out by July, but we'll see how that goes.

I hope you'll drop by again soon. I should have some new songs up by early May.

All the best!

xoxo,

Rachel

More songs up next week!

Hi There,

I hope you are I am expecting two songs back from the mixer this week. The first will be "Plans", a pretty Beatles-style ballad about finding someone for the long haul. For those of you who know this song, I added strings, including a prominent cello part, and an "Eleanor Rigby"-style string quartet to it on the bridge.

The second song "Sad Cafe" is a low-key jazz waltz that one of my friends called "sweetly sarcastic" on the chorus. "Sad Cafe" features a Jon Brion-esque style arrangement with everything from strings to mellotron flutes and a banjo.

"Plans" should be up Monday or Tuesday, and "Sad Cafe" later in the week.

Have a lovely weekend!

Rachel

Restless/Temporary Sanity

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are having a great holiday weekend! I posted "Restless", the first single off my new album last night, and so far the feedback has been great! Thanks so much to Chris Manning for an awesome mix. Enjoy!

The new album is almost done now. Just need to finish up one song, do a couple of string parts on a couple of other songs, and then some final vocals. And voila! Right now the gumbo is still on the stove, but it's going to be mighty tasty. :-)

As the songs get mixed, I'll post them to my Reverb Nation account. Expect some more on the way in August and September.

This fall, I am also planning on releasing a video of "Plans". Yay!

My first full-length CD, and my first video. And there are some other firsts, too. I'll let you in on a secret. I'm also signing a film/tv licensing deal for my songs from "Buena Vista Park". More details to come soon.

Happy Grilling! It's going to be a great summer!

New songs up soon!

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are having a great day! I am hard at work in the studio right now, and have several new songs in the works. I just put up a rough demo of Western a few days ago on this site and on my Myspace page, and so far the comments have been great. I also have a really cool song called Plans that I think you'll love.

Happy Spring!

xoxo,

Rachel
