P-Duble Cracks Praize 102.9 fm Charts with single, “Stronger,” at #11

After having just released his first full-length studio-album in over a decade P-Duble, has seen his first single from that album "Stronger" open up #11 on Praize 102.9 fm's “”Praize Top 15 making it the eleventh most requested song of the past week throughout all of Praize 102.9 fm's programs.

Of the top 15 most requested tracks on the Praize Top 15, P-Duble is probably the most least known artist of them all; which is what makes the feat so humbling. Besides a full-week of rotation, Praize 102.9 fm also hosts “So Fresh, So Clean Saturdays” which is more than 24 hours of non-stop Christian Hip-Hop, Rap and Urban music beginning with the Friday evening version of the daily Canton Jones show at 3:00 p.m. and running until after 9:00 p.m. every Saturday. That's a lot of talented artists that get spun.

The Praize Top 15 includes tracks from artists such as Cam, Lecrae, Canton Jones, Erica Cumbo, Messenja, M.A.J.O.R.S., K-Drama, Flame, D-Peace, J-Moss, Mary Mary and Lil' Prophet.

“I never expected this. I knew it was getting some air-play on a couple of shows and then all of a sudden I received an e-mail notifying me that it had made the Top 15. I figured it was sitting at #15, but when I saw it at #11 and then I saw the established, talented and anointed artists that were also on the chart, I was so humbled I just broke down and prayed,” said P-Duble.

“Stronger” was originally broke and first aired by AJ Rok on his Saturday afternoon show, “Takin' Flight Radio;” which can be heard every Saturday from 3-5 p.m. EST.

“We try to go back to when radio stations actually broke new records. We Can't take all the credit. All we did is play it. It's the listeners who kept requesting it,” stated AJ Rok.

Praize 102.9 fm is a natural air-wave station based out of Greenville, South Carolina that can also be heard online at http://www.praize1029.com/

The station's programming includes the popular “Yolanda Adams Morning Show” as well as “The Co-Co Brother.”

“Stronger,” which features 'dayungSnapper' and 'Layzie Bone' is one of the tracks off of P-Duble's new release, “STANK: Block Boi” which is available digitally online and on physical cd. The album was released on 12/1/09.

Prescription (by Condel Ronway)

Keith “P-Duble” Scarlett is sick of how his hood is being portrayed. “A lot of people glorify the wrong thing,” says the 35-year-old Indianapolis native, whose striking full-length album in more than a decade, “STANK: Block Boi,” is creating quite a stir in the Holy Hip-Hop community because of it's disturbing depiction of life on the streets around 38th and Fall-Creek Parkway. “They try to stick me with the glorification of the struggle, but it's only a portrait of lost souls.

After more than a decade poppin' up on mixtapes here and there, getting his education and raising his family, p-dub decided it was time to go back into the booth and go back to the streets that made him the person he is today. A set of life-altering trials in the summer 2008 set the stage for this come-back, but it wasn't easy.”Things can get pretty lonely for a lyricist of my age and especially in the Christian genre,” says p-dub, who has since generated from scratch a Christian Ministry Entertainment Conglomerate in Stank Records. ”The Lord just wanted me to get back in it and show the un-saved how dope holy-hip-hop can be.” It was that type of spiritual prodding that would help this one-time hip-hop veteran get his career back on track.

In early 2009, P dropped “i Ball,” a standout, stand-alone single with Midwest underground and independent hip-hop mogul, Ty Wills; which also appears on his full-length release; “STANK: Block Boi.” 50,000 copies of this single were given away free on physical CD all over the Midwest and along the East-Coast. P-Duble then cashed in on this buzz and landed a cut (Stronger) on the “Indi Mogul Righteous Collar Mindframe” mixtape and two cuts ('Rok Starr' and 'Let Me C Wat Itz Lyk') on the Microsoft “Sponsored Songs” and “Playlist Seven” compilations, respectively.

Some of the majors have since hollered, but, as of now, P-Duble plans to stay independent with his first full-length studio album in over decade, “STANK: Block Boi,” hitting the streets on December 1, 2009. In the meantime, this veteran of the game is promoting the new mixtape from “daYungSnapper,” and is preparing to launch his debut release in 2010. He is also working with “Modern Day aka tha' Ghost” on his debut release, “Behind Enemy Lines.”

daYungSnapper appears on the first official single, “Stronger,” from P-dub's album and has already spawned some positive buzz. This has P-Duble humbled in anticipation for the work the Lord is brimmed to do, “He's [Jesus] the medicine, I'm just the syringe...the cure for eternal damnation.”

Just what the doctor ordered.

Summary of Album Review from XXL Magazine

Ok, so I'm the one writing this because I'm the only one on the XXL staff that has yet to be 100% sold-out on the over-used beats, simplistic hooks and cliched subject-matter that encompasses christian rap. Before I go any further, I have to admit that once I was in that grouping, as every christian rap single or album that came across my desk lacked innovation and offered no cause for me to rack it beside my rhyme and beat favorites. So, onto this review; which I was directed to by an acquaintance whom suggested I check it out and see if it fits the bill. Thus, I lay my opinion of christian rap on the shoulders of this recommended and very independent sounding LP titled Stank: Block Boi, from P-Duble. The Indianapolis native will either sway me back to the fold of my colleagues or continue to offer some hope that innovation and a frontier is present in the christian rap genre. Here's my first claim: P-Duble is a hip-hop funk specialist who defines ‘underground’ with an innovative vibe that doesn’t fit into classic hip-hop molds, giving him a vibe that stands him alone from the rest. Coming up out of the 38th and Fall Creek section of Indianapolis, P-Duble remains strictly true to street flow and gangsta' language. Bass-laden tracks layered with his unique, slow, oft-times oft-beat, but yet intriguing flow patter; often supported by nothing more than “stunner” sounding production speaks to the credentials of the artist himself and his self-created production crew Stank Beats. The entire unit comes from the self-contained Stank Records label, which shows considerable similarity to a young Tony Draper in terms to its ‘go it on your own’ philosophy. The LP starts off with a track that is nothing short of raw, rugged and straight driven up from the same streets P goes right to. A thunderous, heavy, driving track, intertwined with sounds and lyrics that twist the deepest recesses of your mind and force you to not just nod your head, but wonder where this project will take you. P is also not an artist who is afraid to say what he feels needs to be said; and that carries throughout this entire album; innovative and unique enough to find it's own niche', but yet unadjarred and unwilling to conform to what it's not. The project isn’t short on other promising guest appearances, who variously demonstrate their vocal and mic skills. These unknown names include Ty Wills, Fedarro, Quami Cooke, Mr. Solo, J-Rott + da’YungSnappa'. Their evident gifts may well change their unknown status pretty quickly. This project also attracted the talents of some more well-known artists in the likes of Layzie Bone and Fantasia. I normally don't make it half-way through a project, unless I plan to actually write on it. While I didn't know if I would complete a review on this album as it switched into it's flip-side, I was till curious, especially with the production that drips down in behind every joint on this project. This album has something for everyone and is chocked full of hits and tracks that can hold themselves up on their own as singles. This is surprisingly a quality produced project from start to finish. It's a good collection of just the right amount of street anthems, gangster-joints and even some club-happy tracks with a consistent and message interwoven all the way throughout. P-Duble is not an everyday name...however, this release may just change that and bring him forward, as well.

P-Duble releases "STANK: Block Boi"

Stank Records is proud to introduce 'P-Duble' and announce the release of his full-length studio album, “Stank: Block Boi.” The “STANK: Block Boi” concept comes from a series of trials that affected 'P-Duble' in the summer of 2008, combined with his testimony of coming-up through the ranks of the Chicago-based Folk Nation. It was that summer that he experienced the death of his wife and one of his long-time best friends from childhood; both in the span of less than a week. STANK: Block Boi sets a musical tone as therapeutic for P-Duble as evangelical to the listener. It is at once personal, complex, powerful, melodic, and memorable. The album takes you on a life-long trip from P-Duble's birth, through his street struggles, the devastating summer of 2008 and to the current-day; where he deals with the deaths, his past, his ghosts, skeletons, and fears – all the while striving to pick-up his cross daily and stay focused, STANK: Block Boi is part fun, part sad, part reminiscent, part anthem, and part haunting like gum stuck on the bottom of your soul. This release is poignant, yet sensitive enough to touch even those whom are the most faint of heart. STANK: Block Boi, the new release from P-Duble, is available on-line through iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, Rhapsody, Napster, ReverbNation, the Bus Shop, Holy Culture Downloads, NSI Nation's The Circle; as well as physically at other fine establishments in a neighborhood near you. Please follow the adventures of P-Duble on MySpace, Facebook and Twitter. Ladies and Gentlemen, Stank Records proudly presents for your listening pleasure 'P-Duble.' Take it away, Pookie!

P-Duble is blazing a unique path by continually challenging the accepted boundaries of music. In short, P-Duble has never played it safe.

P-Duble's storytelling and strong expressive lyrics provide an amazing compliment to the innovative production, melting vocals from J-Rott and Mr. Solo's stylistic flow patter.

P-Duble leaks first single off his upcoming full-length release!

“P-Duble's” new album “Stank: Block Boi,” hits streets on December 1st, 2009. The first single off the album, “Stronger,” is now circulating and the track can be heard on P-Duble's MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/pdublestank) and on the Stank Records website. A free download is only available at: http://www.reverbnation.com/pdublestank. This single features Columbus, Ohio native, daYungSnapper, as well as Cleveland, Ohio's own, Layzie Bone. So many artists have spent so much time in the past few months working like madmen and touring for their own albums that before they knew it, the new P-Duble album was on the horizon! Ohio certainly has its share of hip-hop history; from “The Dayton Boys” to the “Bone Thugs Family” to “Bow-Wow,” etc.... It's really exciting to see what direction P-Duble has gone in. Based on what many heard so far (leaks and samplers), there is a good-buzz that this album is going to be a natural progression forward. He has brought back that grimier sound, much like the natural and pure Midwest hip-hop flavor, and has moved away from the over-produced perfect rap formula that he doesn't relate to. Paul Mohr, of Midwest Music Zine, describes the new single as “something that hasn't been heard since Bone Thugs were in charge of the game,” and that is coming from a secular and non-urban specific music zine, “very unexpected from a christian artist, in a good way.” - Paul Mohr; MMZ The new single maintains with the grimy street theme “The basic concept of the single is about the punches life throws at you and how you can pick-up your cross daily and keep moving forward through the power of Jesus Christ. But, done so without compromising the gritty, street-oriented edge we feel called to reach out to with Christ's message. It's real and that's what was one of the most important elements when we were recording it!” says P-Duble. Sounds like it’s not a far departure from the title of the album, “Stank: Block Boi.”

New Social Networking Site Created by Stank Records

Social Networking Site One of the Newest Ones To Keep In Touch Through the Internet. [ClickPress, Friday July 3 2009] Stank Records announces the release of “tha'Midwest” (http://thamidwest.ning.com), a fun and useful social networking service that is optimized for both web and mobile phone interaction. The most common woes from online social networking services are caused by the lull between the times that your contacts are online. By practice, they would have to go online, check their email notifications for new alerts, and then respond. tha'Midwest reduces this wait time by allowing your social network to be up to date anywhere where there is a US mobile carrier signal that supports AdvaMobile; the mobile structure integrated into tha'Midwest. tha'Midwest takes social networking to the next level by introducing a gateway to all your friends with the power of text messaging. Members are able to create user profiles, upload pictures, create and join interest groups, send messages to old friends and make new ones – not just on the computer, but also through their mobile phones. A member only needs a phone capable of sending and receiving text messages to avail of the service. Because tha'Midwest is available through the web and optimized for viewing on mobile phones, subscribers of supported US carriers can register and make use of all the online services either through their web browsers or through a simplified text messaging version on their mobile phones. In addition, members can opt to receive message alerts via text message when a new event has taken place such as group announcements, group replies and private messages. The ability to create public and private interest groups adds a whole new dimension to organizing events and keeping friends and family updated on the latest developments: “This is the next step in wireless community building,” says Vince T. Yamat, webmaster of tha'Midwest. “The very fact that you can access your group of friends from anywhere with a cell signal opens up creative possibilities whether it be to find help-on-the-go or indulging in casual banter. Let’s say you are in dire need of advice as to what computer to buy. All you need to do is send a message to your entire group, which is then posted on the online forum. All group members who have mobile phone access can then reply with their buying advice, and it’s instantaneous. Imagine the possibilities!” Creating user groups is the task of a group moderator who can initiate forum topics which are open to participation by anyone in the group, whether it is about current events, hobbies, music reviews or opinions. This makes the service appealing for a feedback tool, an organization support group and after-hours chill time. “This is where tha'Midwest works its magic,” says Yamat. “Interest groups tend to link and build up on a viral scale. Since the service can be delivered straight to your phone, it makes the level of interactivity more appealing because it can’t get any more personal than that.” Apart from being easy to use, tha'Midwest is also safe. Members activities are constantly monitored and even the slightest activity that goes against the Christian principles the site was created on is cause for up to a permanent ban from the site. Members also have the option to turn off notifications and block or unblock messages from being sent to their account.

Still Hustle

Indianapolis, Indiana's P-Duble witnessed gangsta' rap's nationwide impact firsthand, but from a different perspective. When he would visit friends in what where at the time; rural outlying areas of Indianapolis...he was always asked the same questions...and by the same people... “Everyone was always like, 'Are you a gangsta? You from the hood? You got a low-rider?' That was all an eye-opener for me,” stated P-dub (real name Keith Scarlett). Despite getting a broader view, he always returned back home and to the lure of the streets. Shying away from the city-funded and church-based music programs his parents sought for him, he got his hustle on, slangin' mixtapes rife with vicious tales from the corner.”Tha' Midwest culture is gang culture,” he defends. “So how can you represent the streets if you ain't from or talkin' bout' tha' streets?” Holdin' true to that ideology, P-Duble put out “No One” in 2005 and “My Album About Me” in 2006. The nihilistc mixtapes garned the attention of almost everyone who heard them. The end result will be Stank: Block Boi, P-dub's re-introduction to the region that birthed such notorious street gangs as the folk, peoples, latin kings, etc...this new album is scheduled to be released on 12/1/09! While he doesn't hide is past and his affiliation with the Folk Nation; arguable one of the nation's largest organized gangs, P-dub maintains there's more to him and his new project than just redemption from gangbangin'. “I identify with what's goin' on out here. I identify with what they be goin' through. But, I do know there's a whole other struggle, an internal and spiritual one and there is a way out through Jesus Christ,” he says. “We always gotta' balance out. I just can't come on some banged-out Midwest jive. There's other aspects to it.”
