Bio

Sometimes a little friendly advice goes a long-way. Just ask Indianapolis rap artist P-Duble. “I had heads who'd hear my old mixtapes and be all over me,” says the rapper who was reluctant to re-enter the hip-hop world. “We'd be chillin', just feestylin', and they'd be like 'All right now, man, you need to do it.'”

About

Indianapolis, Indiana's P-Duble witnessed gangsta' rap's nationwide impact firsthand, but from a different perspective. When he would visit friends in what where at the time; rural outlying areas of Indianapolis...he was always asked the same questions...and by the same people... “Everyone was always like, 'Are you a gangsta? You from the hood? You got a low-rider?' That was all an eye-opener for me,” stated P-dub (real name Keith Scarlett).

Despite getting a broader view, he always returned back home and to the lure of the streets. Shying away from the city-funded and church-based music programs his parents sought for him, he got his hustle on, slangin' mixtapes rife with vicious tales from the corner.”Tha' Midwest culture is gang culture,” he defends. “So how can you represent the streets if you ain't from or talkin' bout' tha' streets?

Holdin' true to that ideology, P-Duble put out “No One” in 2005 and “My Album About Me” in 2006. The nihilistc mixtapes garned the attention of almost everyone who heard them. The end result will be Stank: Block Boi, P-dub's re-introduction to the region that birthed such notorious street gangs as the folk, peoples, latin kings, etc...this new album is scheduled to be released on 12/1/09!

While he doesn't hide is past and his affiliation with the Folk Nation; arguable one of the nation's largest organized gangs, P-dub maintains there's more to him and his new project than just redemption from gangbangin'. “I identify with what's goin' on out here. I identify with what they be goin' through. But, I do know there's a whole other struggle, an internal and spiritual one and there is a way out through Jesus Christ,” he says. “We always gotta' balance out. I just can't come on some banged-out Midwest jive. There's other aspects to it.”
