In a world that is filled with Ipods, nanos, droids, digital downloads, youtube, etc. I have to say that personalizing with your fellow man or exchanging ideas with another artist is becoming extinct. To some would say that I am contradicting myself because I received my Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Don't get me wrong I love computers solving a problem, fixing them and understanding code is what intrigues me. But, from an artist standpoint it is rather empty. My mother was a jazz singer in Cleveland in the 80's she traveled to various places and performed alongside legends in the jazz community, and I was taught that personal contact creates a form of synergy. My favorite movie is Mo Betta Blues by Spike Lee. There is an excerpt in the movie when Denzel and Wesley was having a conversation about the band trying new and creative music or playing the same music that Denzel wanted to play. But, Wesley made a valid point that Denzel was not playing with the band he was playing for himself because he could only hear himself.Sometimes, I think that is what Information Technology does at times is create a bubble which only you can hear your own ideas, ideologies, theories and not be challenged. In the title that is what I was referring to Soulgenetics vs. Information Technology. Soulgenetics is about not only thinking outside the box but knowing that every molecule within us can be changed or altered we are living organisms that was created in man's image. So, if you use text, or surf the internet more than usual. Allow yourself some quiet time without the cell phone, call someone directly instead of texting that will create a healthy balance between reality and Technology.
