Anyone living or visiting Seattle is invited to the Double (XX) Fest at Stone Soup Theatre during April, 2011. On the second weekend, and possibly the third, I'll be reprising my role as Lady Montague (Romeo's mother) in the new one-act piece by Seattle playwright Lea Galanter "What Happens in Verona".
This play takes place after the end of Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet", late one night after Juliet's funeral. The four characters are the surviving women from the show - the mothers of Romeo and Juliet (Lady Montague and Lady Capulet), the Nurse who raised Juliet, and Juliet's cousin Rosaline. It's a funny take on some of the things the women didn't get to say, but may have really wanted to!
I've added four shows to my performance listings, but if you can come and vote for our show as Best in Fest, it may get a second weekend in the third week! Come on out and check it out if you can!
"What Happens in Verona" is at Stone Soup Theatre's Double X Fest: Week 2. More info is in my upcoming performance listings, and on the Stone Soup web site: http://www.stonesouptheatre.org/
Thanks again for all of your support, and for all the great music you-all are making on ReverbNation. I do love when I get a chance to listen and buy your recordings!
Peace, light, art, music, magic, health and happiness be with you all!

I'm not demonstrating this skill yet on Reverbnation, but I play electric bass since childhood, and more recently in a "basement band", on a recently-released album of original tunes by friends Bruce Blood and Bill Scott (aka Blood & Biscotti).

Hi, all, I'm working on an upcoming staged reading of a new play by Elizabeth Sparenberg called "The Weather Man". The story centers around the title character, who harvests sunshine and sells it illicitly on the street, in an unsavory part of town, to sunshine addicts. ::chuckle:: I know! Hilarious!
I'm lucky to be working with a fabulous cast, including Kirsten McCory, who worked in Lysistrata with me a few years ago, and is the dark-haired woman to my left in my Facebook profile photo. She plays my younger sister in this piece. :-} Great fun! We even have a scene where we argue over whether or not she's pregnant! Ha! So many memories o Lysistrata there!
Anyhow, the reading is on April 23rd at 6:30pm at the Seattle Metrocenter YMCA. Tickets are by donation. The room seats about 125 people. Details are available in my Shows tab, here:

Just a friendly heads-up - this show isn't kid-friendly or prude-friendly, it's about the mean streets, man! ::chuckle:: No, seriously. Lots of edgy content, foul language and sexual situations. No actual nudity, though. And as usual, I'm not saying most of the edgier things in the script. :-} Yes, yes, once again typecast as the prude, I am! ::chuckle:: Hey, I'm not complaining!
Keep on rockin', my friends!

So, I did some time in L.A. last year, and now I'm back home in Seattle, and finally got started auditioning in Seattle for the first time in over a decade. All the shows I've done in the last 10 years or so have been by recommendation and referral, so I really hadn't been out much in the auditioning world until I hit L.A. last year. Where I transformed into an auditioning machine!
So, I've been in three film projects since I got back to Seattle, and I am in a staged reading for a new play that happens on April 23, 2010. I think I got all the details entered correctly into the Shows area of ReverbNation. Love that function! Now I need to remember how to embed the widget on my web site, and I'll be good to go! :-}
I hope all is well with you, friends! Happy Easter and Passover!

Hello, friends!
I have created a new way for my techie friends to tell the difference between the tracks I've recorded using the built-in iSight microphone on my macbook, and which are using an SM58 mic with a USB Lightsnake cable to record.
All of the tracks with "(scratchtrax...)" in the song title are the newer ones recorded with an SM58 and the Lightsnake.
All of the tracks with "(rehearsal)" in the song title are the older recordings made with the built-in iSight microphone.
All of the recordings on this ReverbNation profile were made on a macbook i bought in February 2008, using the built-in Garage Band software. I'm getting started trying out Audacity software, but so far find the Garage Band easier to use, and quicker to export to iTunes as an MP3 with the quality settings I like, and all that.
I make two MP3s of each song, one set for ReverbNation testing at 160kbp, and another set for playing on my iPod at 192kbps.

So, today I learned that Garage Band has 3 export settings and that "High Quality" is 128kbps, and 192kbps is "Higher Quality", so it's good to hit the "Custom" button and enter 160kbps for the version for ReverbNation. Avoid the clip being cut off, especially if it's anywhere near 8m in size...

Hi, this is Dana, trying out some features of ReverbNation and seeing if it can offer technical solutions to the question of how to offer recordings of songs and spoken stories to friends and family to listen to via the player options on this site.
So far, lots of testing is going on. Let me know what you think - is it easy to figure out how to play the songs? What considerations come into play when it's just audition practice tunes, versus my original songs or some such?
Best regards,

MP3 Quality- that 160kbps bit rate is key!
