Steve Julian and Colourslide in Modern Drummer Magazine!!

If you happen to look in this month's issue of Modern Drummer Magazine (April '09) you will find mentions of Steve and Colourslide in the "Backbeat" section (page 126) for the Gretsch 125th Anniversary show we played last November in NYC. Pretty rad...

Re-release of Self Titled Album!

We will be releasing a new album...in a manner of speaking. No, not the new one, unfortunately, there are still details to be finalized on that. In the mean time we will be re-releasing our eponymous debut album at our April 16th show in Gainesville. We've completely sold out of the first run so we've decided to update the artwork and give everyone a complete set of lyrics this time. Hope that holds you over until the new one!

Speaking of the show on the 16th and the new album, if you haven't seen already, we will be playing all of the new songs on the new album and the show will be FREE!! Also, doors will open earlier than normal so everyone will be able to enjoy the night and still make it to school or work the next day. We felt that things were pretty tight for everyone these days so it was time to show our appreciation for all that you do to keep us going and have a night where everyone can come and have a good time, worry free. Get there early as it's expected to be packed!

More soon, CS

Mastering the new record today...

The record is getting Mastered today in Maine by the phenomenal Bob Ludwig, who has probably the most ridiculous resume in music. It's almost laughable.. he worked on Led Zeppelin II and The Joshua Tree for god sakes.... we are an extremely fortunate group.....its getting closer......

"Wake Up Call" Wins Maxell Song of the Year!!

The long wait is over and as the headline states, "Wake Up Call" took the ultimate title in the John Lennon Song Writing Contest, 2007 Maxell Song of the Year! We found out about two weeks ago but had to keep it hush hush until the official announcement was made. You can imagine that was no easy task, walking around on cloud nine and not being able to say why. The official announcement was made this past Wednesday, June 25th, when the band opened up for Natasha Bedingfield at Irving Plaza in New York. It was a surreal experience, from photo ops with giant checks to rubbing elbows with some pretty amazing people and playing for a sold out crowd at a historical venue in New York...wild.

There are no words to express our excitement and gratitude to everyone at DAS and The John Lennon offices not to mention all of our fans who's votes made it possible for us to even have a shot at Song of the Year. This is by far the band's biggest accomplishment to date and we're excited to be able to share it with everyone. Below is the actual press release, make sure to to also do a search for "Colourslide Maxell Song of the Year" to see who is talking about us...unbelievable.

WE TOOK GRAND PRIZE IN THE JOHN LENNON SONG WRITING CONTEST!!

Hello all, We wanted to share some very exciting news with you and ask for your help yet again. First off, we found out last week that "Lost Again" WON GRAND PRIZE in the Rock category of the John Lennon Song Writing Contest, and "Wake Up Call" received equal recognition. For those unfamiliar, this is an international songwriting contest that began in 1997 and, in the vast world of these types of competitions, is one of the most highly regarded and recognized for it’s size and scrutiny. It’s an amazing honor to be selected as one of only two top Rock songs for the 2007 contest but there are still two more tiers to complete, and that’s where we need your help...

Starting tomorrow (March 19th) the contest opens for online voting to decide which of the 2 top Rock songs will take the Lennon Award and title of Best Rock Song of 2007. If your voting gets us to this stage, we then have a chance to win overall Song of the Year, which would be an unbelievable accomplishment in and of itself but they also throw a huge check our way...which could mean a very good year for the band. So, with your votes, we hope to go as far as this ride can go and we believe it’s possible. All you have to do is follow the link below (www.jlsc.com/vote), register an e-mail address and vote once per day until April 26th!! We realize this is a lot to ask, but these extra 2 minutes of your day for the next month can make an incredible impact on this band for the rest of the year...PLEASE DO YOUR BEST TO VOTE ONCE PER DAY, WE CAN’T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!!Thank you so much in advance for all that you will do, and all that you have done in the past for us, it means the world and we appreciate each and every one of you! Feel free to e-mail if you have any questions! Now go VOTE!
