Time Will Come Soon Enough

It is a little over a week since I had a heart attack and I am looking forward to the time not too far away when I will be able to get back to making music. I played some flutes for a bit yesterday and that calmed my inner heart.

I look forward to see what will come from where I have recently been :)

Keeping It Moving

It is funny how easy it is to read something into comments that come back as you submit music for consideration for different projects. The human psyche is not built for large amounts of rejection.

I am learning how the rejection can fuel the creative process and be an impetus to improvement. As I head back to things I have written as I better learn to arrange and write I wonder, "Man what was I thinking submitting that?" Growth it seems comes a bit at a time, but self actualization can come in big bunches.....funny old world we live in Glad I'm a part of it.

Growing Pains

It is funny how resistant we can be to growth sometimes. It may be because it takes more effort than we can give, or we are partwya down a path and go "Man this is going to be so much work I wonder why I started this in the first place." Growing pains is another expression for change and change is seldom welcomed. Even in music one feels comfortable where one is and change sometimes come hard. I am working at better learning the craft of songwriting and it is a path that has many twists but fortunately their are many firends to help. Never forget that we are never alone and that when we look for help it may come from the most unexpected places. May all your growing pains lead you to some place new.

The Calm Before

I have been at work on a new song, the calm before. It reminds me of all that we face in life and the desire we have just to catch a break or find some quiet away from the everyday. Jopefully it will be posted early next week.

Keeping it flowing

I am finding that as the excitement about music is at a high the desire to create and work quite naturally is at a high. We all love to create when we are in the mood. What is fun is finding ways to enjoy the process of creation when that "feel"isn't there. The write a piece a day is more than an exercise in trying to build up songs. It is more than getting practice in. For me it is about creating a regular pattern where the mind and spirit together know....it's time to do it.....Of course not everything will make its way to everyones ears but I find that at least there is a phrase of chord progression that is useful. It may not be tomorrow or the day after that but it will find a place. Enjoy the music, Mike

Finally getting the music out of my head

It has taken years for me to finally get enough confidence up to put my music out into the wolrd. It's funny how much fear can stand in the way of doing something that we want to. I have loved music and playing since I was very young, but only now in my 50s have I found the courage to use my voice. Don't wait....find your voice today!!!!!!
