Mercury, Brass, Polyester, Suede, Gut, Soul, Intention and Improvisation. Rough Congress specializes in "deep cuts" and soul/jazz/r&b/funk genre obscurities from the 60's-80's, as well as smart soulful originals. The gang regularly did studio session work and decided to form a band in 2007 for grins and gins. An amalgamation of musical experience crushed under the weight of individual virtuosity and collective geography.
“Brandon drips with soul and sweat; you won’t forget his stage presence. Guitarist Jamie Frost... busted out tasty licks. Chris White jammed on a vintage 1973 Fender-Rhodes seventy-six... Jake Barr laid down the groove on the bass. Aaron Saye kept a steady funk hammer on the drums”

“...It's hard to imagine the unambiguously sexual soul/r&b/funk band doing anything but turning the steam-meter to vaporize...expect some clothes to come off.”

“... this ain't your average release from the boys in Rough Congress...This new track, "Coals to Newcastle," is extraordinary.”

“These guys are all solid musicians with the endurance to crank out funky goodness into the wee hours.”
