As of 4/2012 Achachay! is no longer together.
Achachay! is a funk / indie-rock trio on a mission to get people merrymaking, thinking deeply, and doing good. They push music and the music industry to new frontiers in creativity, accessibility, and integrity. They create songs and performances with many layers of meaning, but always remember to laugh.
Guitarist and singer Jordan Myska Allen and drummer Ryan Greenblatt met through a mutual best friend in the Fall of 2008. They found bassist and singer Ryan "Hooch" Stallings on Craigslist in the Winter of 2009. Ever since then they tour extensively, playing over four hundred shows in more than 100 cities strewn across 30 states.
Recently Achachay! rocked Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans, LA. They've recorded one five song EP, created a business plan to streamline and organize their efforts on the road to stardom, and are hitting the studio again in early 2012.
In the spirit of fun philanthropy, Achachay! helped organized the first ever Austin Gorilla Run, a 5k where everyone runs wearing a gorilla suit. Over $50,000 raised by this event was donated to the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, an international organization that protects the endangered mountain gorillas by educating veterianarians in Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Achachay! envisions their music as a great influence on people’s minds and hearts – inspiring fans to push the boundaries of creativity, to search the depths of their psyches, all the while having fun, dancing, and not taking themselves too seriously. They see their success interfacing with different industries, such as battery powered vans, promoting ideas like Integral Theory, Conscious Capitalism and Holacracy, and pushing positive, little known media sources like Ted Talks and Good Magazine to the forefront of the mainstream.
From here until infinity, Achachay! will make catchy tunes that empower humans to think for ourselves, think outside of the box, find a deeper purpose, expand our limited perspectives on ourselves and our context, and shake our booties.
““They’re new. They’re different. They’re not the most well known band at Voodoo Fest, but they’re on the adventure of their lives. They’re living the dream, traveling from gig to gig, making music, meeting new fans, and paying their dues. There may come a day when everyone thinks that these guys were overnight wonders. If they do become overnight sensations, The Witch Doctor’s readers will know the full story behind their success. So come along with me on this interview, what you’ll find is some dedicated souls, who believe in their ability to make a difference in the world.””

““We can’t put a finger on exactly why, but Achachy reminds us a little of the Minute Men. They aren’t punks, they don’t race through songs, so it must be the fact that they are a trio with an intense and sincere delivery. If D. Boone had grown up a lot more funky, maybe he’d have started Achachay. The band’s funk, by the way, is almost luxurious.””

“with lead singer Jordan Myska Allen crooning like its Vegas, but the rest of the band smoking through a tight groove. Much, much fun. ...”
