The Big Orkney Song Project is a two year project set up to collect, catalogue and record Orkney songs and run by Orkney Singers. We will be creating the Big Orkney Song Collection, which everyone can have free access to through the Orkney Library and Archive. Our hope is to reinvigorate a song tradition in Orkney and preserve our rich and diverse song heritage.
“The events are growing in popularity and 45 people came to enjoy a free concert of Orkney Song. We were entertained by Billy Jolly, Brian Cromarty, Bruce Mainland, the Song Shop Trio and the Song Shop Choir - an impressive line-up for a free event on a Saturday afternoon.”

“Thirty-five people enjoyed performing and listening to local tunes in Orphir on Saturday at the project's latest song share event.”

“Before [William Bremner] sang at the Songshare event he told the audience he hadn't sung [his song] since he was 11-years-old.”
