Violet Youth consist of Andrew Schofield (Vocals) Phil Higgins (Lead Guitar) Joe Naber (Bass) and Ben Bibby (Drums)
We're somewhere inbetween Magazine and Pulp.
We've been together for around 3 years now, we practice at Moolah Rouge studio’s in Stockport and have been playing gigs and gaining fans locally around Manchester, this has involved supporting bands such as Nine Black Alps and playing Manchester Pride and MAPS Festival. We’ve also recently just returned from a short tour around Germany taking in cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Osnabruck and Wuppertal. Back home we have played in venues in Camden, Hammersmith, Sheffield, Blackburn, Southport and Manchester
We released our first single (Carla’s Song) independently both online and in CD format during August 2010 which did well and was often featured on BBC Manchester Introducing, we then played for BBC Radio Manchester at the ruby lounge for a 40 years of broadcasting celebration where we supported ‘May 68’. We also ended 2010 by supporting 'Sham 69' And 'The Chapman Family'
Thank you,
Violet Youth
Review from 17 dots: This single finds a guy with a heavy British accent rattling off clever spoken-word lyrics over agitated post-punk. So this is definitely my kind of thing. Maybe it’s yours, too?
"Reminiscent to Magazine with an undoubtedly Manchester feel to it." - Wohomusic

"Violet Youth bring to mind the Buzzcocks' breakneck pop nous, whilst at their more explorative, the jerky rhythms and textured melodies recall the innovative work of Howard Devoto's Magazine." - David Sue, CityLife - M.E.N
