Biography:

Chamberland are an independent four-piece original hard rock outfit from Brisbane.
For the best part of a decade the band has rocked the pubs and clubs of South-East Queensland making new fans wherever and whenever they play through their powerhouse live shows.
In 2009 the boys embarked on a journey to deliver a trilogy of concept EPs. Working with renowned Brisbane Producer Caleb James the boys hit the studio to record Part I of the trilogy, 2009’s Take Your Place. The EP was critically hailed as a feature album in Scene Magazine.

“Take Your Place is the first in a series of concept EPs by Chamberland and it’s fair to say that it kicks like a steroid-munching mule... It’s exhilarating stuff, matching raw aggression to a striking precision. Excellent stuff.”

After touring for the remainder of the year the boys quickly got back into the studio with Caleb to record Part II, 2010’s widely acclaimed follow up “Empty Sun”.

Empty Sun' CD Review - Time Off Magazine
"Local group Chamberland produce the kind of grandiose, epic rock that makes for a killer live show. Their tunes are textured and ambitious, hitting hard with both a raw brute force and an endearing fragility."

Empty Sun CD Review – Rave Magazine
"Empty Sun brings us Act II in their three-part concept, and it borders on perfection. The band’s ability to hang between metal and grunge is brilliant, as is the way they have structured the album. Each song flows perfectly into the next, while they all still have certain elements that let them confidently stand alone. Black Sabbath and Alice In Chains are the obvious influence, but both would most likely kill for the sound Chamberland have on Empty Sun. Listen to this, it’s worth every penny."

Having played more gigs then they can count, it is through their live shows that Chamberland prefer to be known for. Always keen to deliver a knockout performance Chamberland are a band that leave everything on the stage, forging a reputation as a must see live act.

Press:

“When a local band decide it’s time to release a concept album split over three disks, you would be forgiven for thinking that they’re downright crazy. What you probably wouldn’t know is just how good Chamberland actually are. Empty Sun brings us Act II in their three-part concept, and it borders on perfection. Listen to this, it’s worth every penny. Bring on Act III! Brad Cameron - Rave Magazine

“Local group Chamberland produce the kind of grandiose, epic rock that makes for a killer live show. Their tunes are textured and ambitious, hitting hard with both a raw brute force and an endearing fragility. Frontman Ross Dowling has a powerful, gravelly voice, and the band's melodic racket often brings to mind Audioslave, Pearl Jam and Cog. They've been around for about ten years and have gained a considerable amount of respect in the Brisbane hard rock scene. This lengthy EP manages to show off their gift for melody without diluting their strength. Dowling's lyrics deal with social commentary in an indirect way, emphasizing personal issues rather than political rhetoric. Highlights include the wicked guitar riff in 'Driving' and the end of 'Judas', which features drummer Scott Martin bashing away like a demon as Dowling's vocals become tortured shrieks. If you dig their live shows, or you're just craving a spoonful of concrete, then you shouldn't be disappointed. 3.5 / 5”
Daniel Wynne - Time Off Magazine - Wed 23 Sept 2010

“'Empty Sun' CD Review - Scene Magazine - Wed 6 Oct 2011 Channelling some ungodly serpent from the depths of hard-rock hell, Chamberland burst onto the scene with their latest release 'Empty Sun'. Sounding a bit like a more melodic and pulsating version of Soundgarden, the band have incorporated soulful guitar riffs, driving bass and spot on drumming to create a truly epic record. Flowing from brutal, give-'em-hell rock track, such as 'Driving', to more relaxed, introspective numbers, the album takes the listener through a tormented, yet beautiful, musical landscape. Conjuring images of apocalyptic battlegrounds and the last vestiges of human existence, 'Empty Sun' is best enjoyed while wearing nothing but a dog collar and hiding in the corner.'”
Scene Magazine

“CHAMBERLAND@THE ZOO Chamberland shine with unyielding passion and intensity and the crowd responds with hollers of praise. Their sound combines smooth somewhat Cog-like verses with hard rock instrumentation, at times producing a raw and uncompromising racket that's reminiscent of Black Sabbath.”
Jonathon Howard - Time Off
