Noted for her “sweet soprano voice” that critics say “may be the voice of a new gospel revolution,” September Penn emerged as a Gospel/inspirational recording artist in 2009 with the release of her debut project, Hope For You. The independent project quickly received both national and international attention with Top 25 and Top 10 rankings on Christian music charts for Cash Box Magazine, Gospel USA Magazine, Independent Artist Company and Reverbnation.com.
Her unique vocal talents – which range from soulful urban sounds and “down-home” church choruses to ballads and classical arrangements – have carried her across America and as far as China. “September excels with her voice, demonstrating a powerful and natural soulfulness,” said England’s Dancin Dave Derbyshire, in a review of the Hope ForYou CD for Cross Rhythms Magazine.
In June 2007, the Virginia native performed in the international premiere of Stanford University Professor Clayborne Carson’s Passages of Martin Luther King in Beijing, China, with the National Theater Company of China. As a member of Passages’ musical ensemble and as one of its musical coordinators of the Beijing performance, September has seen her responsibilities grow with work on the play. In addition to musical performances with Passages, she has played the role of Dr. King’s mother, Alberta Bunch King, and most recently as Coretta Scott King in the February 2009 performance of the play at The Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg, Fla, which she now calls home.
“September Penn and her gospel singers stopped the show with Faces of Hope.”

Dancin' Dave Derbyshire - Cross Rhythms
“September Penn is a rising star of the US gospel circuit...a sweet soprano voice that handles the ballads beautifully but when required September can also handle tighter material like the loose 'I'm Lovin' You' which is built from the same jammin' template as 'Masterblaster'.”
Bill Buckley - Soul and Jazz and Funk
“Soprano gospel soloist September Penn is nothing short of sensational.”
The Power Broker
"'Hope For You' is hope for all... September Penn may well be the voice of a new gospel revolution..."

“Performer China-bound to sing about King”
