MeowMeowProject made its debut performance at Home Club in Singapore in 2007. The band consisted of Deborah Lee Proaño and a few of her friends who volunteered to play with her at the indie-pop club.
In the next few years, Deborah continued writing songs and performing them in various venues in Singapore with a revolving group of musicians and friends, her band consisted more regularly of herself and the electric guitarist and backup singer, Thomas Wu.
In 2010, Deborah moved to Los Angeles to study film-scoring and music production at UCLA Extension. There she met her future husband and biggest music supporter, Esteban Proaño who collaborated with her on a few music projects.
Deborah completed her course in film-scoring at UCLA Extension in 2011. Having written many more songs since 2007 and being better equipped in music production and orchestration skills, Deborah decided to produce her album. In December 2012, she launched a successful Kickstarter to raise funds for the production of her debut album "Home." Her husband, Esteban Proaño mixed and mastered the album. Most of the album was recorded in their living room.
On September 22nd, 2014, MeowMeowProject launched the album, "Home" in Singapore to a wonderfully receptive audience at Artistry Cafe. She also performed twice at the Starbucks Cafe at Liat Towers in Singapore and her album was distributed throughout all the Starbucks Cafes in Singapore from September to October 2014.
MeowMeowProject will be performing again, this time in Los Angeles, for a U.S Album launch. The acoustic concert will take place on the 21st of February at 7pm @The Coffee Connection located at 3838 South Centinela Avenue LA CA 90066. Admission is free.
