Biography:

Starboy is an interdimensional traveller who makes progressive rock concept albums layered with psychedelic technology, and has produced a steampunk inspired mini-movie trilogy, where he floats on waves of sound in an enormous cello shaped ship made entirely of musical instruments. The live show, "Starboy's Steampunk Burlesque Circus Express" is an explosive theatrical experience, making use of a range of multimedia special FX and there is an accompanying range of Starboy sci-fi costumes, ready to wear apparel, guns, goggles and accessories. The sound is classically fused heavy rock, with progressive structure through complex modalities with screaming guitar solos, soaring piano virtuosity, and then palate cleansing electronic interludes between songs.

Press:

"A rock show come circus with more wizards, midgets, Maori warriors and women in tight clothing than you can shake a stick at, [it] begins with [Kristi] hatching from an egg, only to be dragged off by aliens in hotpants..."
Ali Ikram - TV3 Nightline

"- The thing that I like about progressive rock is the ability to take the listener to another world," says Matt "Starboy" Bowden.
Daniel Reichberg - Sweden Rock Magazine

“Drug lord turned muso, Matt Bowden aka Starboy, talks touring around the world, hot chicks and his new album Homecoming.”
Editor - Rip It Up

“Starboy Induction EP You didn't know party pill advocate Matt Bowden (a.k.a Starboy) was also a musician did you? These four tracks are a mix of low key dance, funk and rock - with trippy effects permeating much of it. I was skeptical prior to hearing it, as it's virtually impossible to separate public figures (like Bowden) from your prior perception of them. There is some good live musicianship though, especially the guitars (Matt's pretty handy with a six string). T'm guessing these tunes are the sound of Starboy coming down from a fair few good nights out. The funky 'Can You Feel It' is my pick.”
Brent Strathdee - Rip It Up

“This is top shelf music. Rare in its genre, at times its cell-vibrating, often its rich harmonics and exhilarating precision work, very rare can you be distracted.”
