At ShapeTapes.com our goal is to provide the songwriter and recording enthusiast affordable, quality audio services and to promote an independent spirit by "doing it ourselves".

BIO:
ShapeTapes Productions is a fledgling company based in Dallas Texas, currently comprised of two songwriters/musicians/producers, Paul Blanchard and Rick Fontaine. We have a combined experience of over 30 years as professional musicians and recording enthusiasts and have played in bands and recorded as a duo since the early 90's.

Rick has worked as a sound engineer in both a studio environment and in live sound, working with reknowned acts such as Leon Russell, Hank Thompson, Asleep At The Wheel and Noel Haggard. He has written and recorded dozens of his own songs as well as played keyboards and lead guitar in Dallas area bands, most notably with the awarding-winning rock band Back To Blue.

Paul, the son of 70's country artist Saratoga Red, is a gifted multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter in his own right. His bass playing in particular conjures up comparisons with Paul McCartney and Geddy Lee in it's melodicism and "in the pocket" groove. Paul recently self-produced his fourth full-length project of original music, "Side Yard Barking".

Throughout the years, we've made music on our own terms and we feel that today we can offer up some of our experience and talent to assist songwriters and home recordists so that they can realize the full potential of their music.

SHAPETAPES LABEL:

The Shape Tapes label was set up to provide a distribution outlet for Dallas, TX musicians Rick Fontaine and Paul Blanchard and their musical collective known as "The Shape" as well as other artists. It is not our goal to manage (or compensate) artists like a "major" label.  Instead, ShapeTapes is a place to have your music professionally mastered and released, as well as an outlet to promote and sell your finished product; and a place to promote interest in bypassing the traditional notion of "making it" in the music business by empowering people to get their music out there in a legitimate, yet affordable fashion.
