Paul Blanchard, son of the enigmatic country singer Saratoga Red, started along his musical path at a young age, performing in various talent shows and singing karaoke along to his father's then well known “Album”. In his high school years, Paul began writing his own music, and formed a couple of rock bands (he played the bass). Paul carried on into his adult life as both a solo artist and a collaborative band member, participating in several projects to include Houston's very own “American Chicken”, and the Dallas bred hard rock ensemble “Mortis Hayne”.
Paul's prolific recording career began with the 1994 debut release of the 20+ song rock compendium “Shape of Things to Come”. That effort was promptly followed up in 1995 with a collaborative rock & roll masterpiece simply entitled “Peace, Man”, accomplished with long time friend and eminent musical co-writer Rick Fontaine, of Back To Blue. Christmas 1996 saw the release of Paul's 1990's opus “Absurd” - a 60 minute collection of (mostly) original songs, which broke several genre boundaries with songs ranging from hard rock to country to children's music, with a little jazz and R & B thrown in to boot.
Following the release of “Absurd”, Paul went full steam into a long-term live project known in Dallas, Texas as “Davenport”, along with friends and co-founders, Sam Cannariato (Molly and the Ringwalds), Jim Walter (Gingersnap!) and Rick Fontaine (Back to Blue). Davenport was an exercise in proficiency, as the aforementioned founders were all contributors to an extensive catalog of original songs. From 1997 to 2002, Davenport was widely revered as one of Dallas' premier club bands, with an emphasis on promoting original music. Late in 2001, Paul was enlisted as lead singer of the popular bar-band “Tipsy McStagger”, after impressing the principals during an open mic session. While Paul thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, some more demanding responsibilities were right around the corner...
In April 2002, Paul set aside his musical plumes to focus on rearing a family – today, he and his wife Cheryl are the proud parents of two beautiful children.
After a six year hiatus, Paul has returned to his home studio to produce his fourth full length project, which is currently set to hit the internet around Christmas 2008.
Paul is also compiling a series of outtakes from previous recording sessions, entitled “Doctor Darbeet's Body Collection”, to be remastered and released as a retrospective companion piece to the new music.
