Bio: The Ridgeway Village Square was the culmination of a series of infrastructure projects in downtown Ridgeway that involved repaving the road, replacing sewers and watermains, and enhancing the streetscape with new sidewalks, lighting, trees, and a splashpad. It officially opened in July 2013 and serves not only as a smoke-free public space but also as the backdrop for downtown festivals and events. Atop the modern infrastructure, however, a Victoria-era streetscape, complete with railway theme, takes visitors back to Ridgeway’s Grand Trunk Railway heyday, when the area was a thriving service commercial hub serving what today is the west end of the Town of Fort Erie.
