Bio: The Brookfield Farmers Market is a delightful, family friendly, open air farmer's market featuring seasonal and sustainably-grown produce from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. Markets are held in the parking lot of the Brookfield Village Hall on Saturdays June- mid October 8 AM - 1 PM. Live musical acts perform free all-ages shows in the green space 10 AM - NOON. The average attendance in 2015 was over 1,000 visitors each Saturday! The Brookfield Farmers Market is an excellent place for up-and-coming performers in the Chicagoland/Northern Illinois area to gain experience performing in public. Bands are encouraged to use the Farmers Market as a lead-in for evening shows in the area. The Brookfield Farmers Market offers a 8' X 8' covered open air performance space (plenty of room for solos, duos and trios) and access to electrical outlets. Artists should bring their own equipment, including extension cords. Musicians are paid a modest performance fee to compensate for local travel costs. This is a flat fee, to be shared by all members of the group. Musicians may also collect tips, sell merch/CDs, and promote upcoming performances. The following genres are appropriate for the Brookfield Farmers Market: Country, Blues, Americana, Folk, Indie, Latin, Jazz, Accoustic Rock, and Instrumental. Preference is given to local acoustic soloists and duos from Chicagoland/Northern Illinois. Musicians are responsible for their own transportation to Brookfield, IL. Booking requests for the 2017 season will only be considered dates between June 3 and October 14, 2017. Booking requests for out-of-season dates or by groups that do not fit within the above listed genres will not receive a response. All booking requests must be accompanied by a link to a demo or recent recorded performance. Performance slots are filled on a first-come, first served basis with one musical act scheduled per market date. The Music Coordinator reserves the right to invite performers from previous seasons to return to the market and, at their discretion, may grant those performers multiple slots on the roster. Performers, both new and returning, are judged on multiple factors including talent, attitude, preparedness, promptness, and repertoire.
