All-star benefit for John Wicks (The Records) on Oct. 8, L.A.'s Teragram Ballroom

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Wild Honey Foundation friend John Wicks, a brilliant musician and songwriter, needs support in his battle against a rare form of pancreatic cancer (stage 4) that has spread to his liver. After a six-week hospital stay, he has been undergoing round after round of intense chemotherapy and is making solid progress. Always a fighter with a gentle heart, John faces even more chemo in the coming weeks. Unable to play music and earn a living, John has a tough, expensive battle ahead. Wild Honey's benefit concert for Wicks, scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 8 p.m., at the Teragram Ballroom, 1234 W. 7th St., in Los Angeles, aims to alleviate his financial stress during his cancer fight and lift his spirits. All profits will go directly to John to pay his mounting medical bills and living expenses until he can resume working.
John is the co-founder of the legendary British pop band the Records, who released three albums on Virgin that spawned the classic hit single “Starry Eyes.” Before his illness, John wrote, recorded, and performed around the world as a solo artist, as well as with a new Records lineup, and also alongside Bangles' drummer Debbi Peterson in their duo Broken Sky.
John is a mensch and humanitarian, always willing to donate his considerable talents at the drop of a hat and help recruit his friends — Al Stewart, Laurence Juber and Denny Laine, among others — to participate in Wild Honey benefit events. His generous musical donations to the Wild Honey Foundation's autism fundraising concerts over the past three years have enormously helped kids in need. In short, it's payback time for the Wild Honey Foundation and all of the friends John has helped over the years.
