If this is your first time hearing Bob Malone... where the hell have you been?? This guy is the real deal in a world of poseurs, prefab and music as consumable commodity unit. And if you've never seen him LIVE... well, you know you need to get out more anyway. That just proves it. Wherever you are, he's probably gonna be in or near your city, town, village, burg, hamlet or hovel soon. If you don't go... well, you missed it. You'll cry later. Maybe I'm biased because we both went to Berklee and actually graduated, though I didn't meet him until a decade later in LA. Someone told me, dude, you HAVE to go hear this guy. I did, and we became friends between sets. Turned out he'd read my books on all those lonely nights on the road. Then he got back on stage and continued to blow me away anew. Like he has ever since. I will tell you this as well: Bob Malone is my personal hero of indie music. When the usual record industry weasels and weaselettes of corporate yumminess could not grasp that his massive talent and sheer originality was a GOOD thing, he simply invented his own way through, on his own terms. Simple, yeah right. But he did it. Now he's worldwide. But you.... you can still be the first on your block. It's not too late. Without even leaving the chair you're sitting in as you read this... you don't even KNOW how lucky you are. If you like your music smart, soulful, slamming, heartbreakingly poignant, and old school party-ready... well, Bob's your guy. And if not... well, have some oatmeal or something. And check your wrist. For a pulse. So start clicking kids. Don't make me hafta hurtcha. --Craig Spector Sept. 2010 www.craigspector.com
