Alex Torrez was born and raised in Floydada, TX. Growing up in that part of Texas Alex was surrounded by the spirit and vibrations of such pop music pioneers as Buddy Holly, Bob Montgomery, Waylon Jennings and many others. Alex discovered his natural talent as a drummer at a very young age playing throughout his teens at parties, festivals and clubs emerging as one of the most sought after drummers in the area. He soon hit the road playing the Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma club circuit with the top artists and bands in the region. Like many of his fellow contemporaries he attended South Plains College to take part in their Music Business Program. Alex made the move to Nashville in 1986 and soon became one of Nashville’s most popular live drummers playing and touring with such acts as Pam Tillis, Marty Haggard, Leon Russell, Edgar Winter, Kevin Welch, Kelly Willis, The Kingsnakes and Lionel Cartwright. Alex soon found himself on the forefront of the 90’s young country boom with Tracy Lawrence and Lee Ann Womack then cut his teeth as a Master Session drummer playing on records with both Lionel Cartwright and Tracy Lawrence.
