Integrity. Simple Truth.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia For other uses, see Integrity (disambiguation). Integrity is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. Barbara Killinger offers a traditional definition: Integrity is a personal choice, an uncompromising and predictably consistent commitment to honour moral, ethical, spiritual and artistic values and principles.[1] In ethics, integrity is regarded[by whom?] as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions. Integrity can stand in opposition to hypocrisy,[2] in that judging with the standards of integrity involves regarding internal consistency as a virtue, and suggests that parties holding within themselves apparently conflicting values should account for the discrepancy or alter their beliefs. The word "integrity" stems from the Latin adjective integer (whole, complete).[3] In this context, integrity is the inner sense of "wholeness" deriving from qualities such as honesty and consistency of character. As such, one may judge that others "have integrity" to the extent that they act according to the values, beliefs and principles they claim to hold. A value system's abstraction depth and range of applicable interaction may also function as significant factors in identifying integrity due to their congruence or lack of congruence with observation. A value system may evolve over time[4] while retaining integrity if those who espouse the values account for and resolve inconsistencies.[5]

RevFest 2014 Recap - Basically Amazing!

The 2nd Annual Okaloosa RevFest 2014 was absolutely amazing. 99 Rock and Emergent ran some awesome sound for Season Ammons Band, Hotel Oscar, Applebutter Express, New Earth Army, Cope, Slack Tide, Continuum, Tribe Zion, Timberhawk, Shows and Laces, Owsley Brothers, and Lucky Costello! The event had an amazing turnout and the vibe was just revolutionary!

Thank you to all the sponsors: 99 Rock, Emergent Recording & Production House, Virulent Media, Downtown Fort Walton, Kc's Sabd Bar & Grill, UpBeat Music, Tech Star Productions, and all the great volunteers that made this event happen.

Mike Flatua of New Earth Army killed it as the event organizer. He is truly a bad ass (as Mike from KC's put it) and without his vision and dedication, this event would not be what it is and will be in the future!

We have already spoke on the phone today about next year. If you want to be a part in any way, contact us and let us know!

Leadership Development.

John C. Maxwell stated a lot of simple, but foundational, truths in his book "Developing the Leader Within You". "We never know who or how much we influence," says Maxwell, quoting J.R. Miller, "No one can understand that mysterious thing we call influence...yet...everyone of us continually exerts influence, either to heal, to bless, to leave marks of beauty; or to wound, to hurt, to poison, or to stain other lives."

We want to encourage you this day in your journey. Your music matters. We all influence and are influenced by others. What you set out to do today brings good or bad. Keep pressing and keep growing yourself and your art.

Familiarity breeds contempt.

As an artist you have to know that relationships are key to your success. The old saying, "familiarity breeds contempt" is something you need to hold true. Very few friends will be there through the thick and thin. Negativity begets negativity and so it goes on. Every relationship is an opportunity, but protecting yourself in each relationship is just as crucial as a missed opportunity. It could be even more detrimental to your career and your image. Learn to step back from relationships that are toxic. If you need those relationships, approach them differently. Let your inner circle be trusted to raise you above. Listen to the words that come from people's mouth. If you divulge personal information and see their response is self satisfying, you may have some contempt on your hands. Proceed these situation with caution. They are the opposite of haters. They are users.

The power of networking.

Recently we did a gig for Marty White & the Sterling Silver band that opened for Hank Williams Jr. on March 9th in Ebro, FL. We definitely got a chance to hang out with some old friend, but the new friends that were made have been priceless. As we reflect on that day the thought of "the power of networking" rings so true.

Networking is the art of making friends and building trust in relationships. Sometimes you even have to pay for these opportunities. Know that with your band, where you play and how well you play at the function makes or breaks you for future gigs. If you feel like you don't want to be a part od something, ask yourself "Am I stealing an opportunity away from me?"

Do those charity events! Do those freebies! Go meet and greet with other musicians! Support other local music in your genre. You never know where it might lead. Not doing or going based on personal feelings is a definite lead...nowhere.

Social media is an extension of your integrity.

We've read the blogs about the commenters and the posters, but how does reality and perception meet in the digital world? It seems cut and dry, don't post what you wouldn't say to someone face-to-face (no matter how you feel in the moment) and don't comment along the same guidelines. Something that we found is so much more. When you log into your social media profiles, banners and lights flash to the entire world; and it changes almost everyday no matter what notification settings you are on. Perception is reality on these platforms and they must be maintained daily. Coming off and online without addressing messages and posts are just as bad as coming into a room, looking at someone while they ask a question, and then leaving as quickly as you came in. Here are some general rules for successful PR and a good perception on the online community:

1) Post morning, noon, and night relevant information; not market heavy, but be intriguing.

2) Use proper grammar.

3) Respond to new post notifications and messages every time you log on. Be prepared to take time for this when you log. Don't just check your feeds.

4) Realize that your mobile settings show you online and available even if you aren't.

5) Use your business profiles for business and personal for personal.

How you present yourself on social media platforms becomes who you are. Just like marketing, if you brand yourself a loaf of bread and they come to a show and see a vegetable, it could hurt worse in the long run. Your music is music...your music business is the other art you have to craft with the same passion.

RAWLY - In Memory of Chino.

We have been working on a two song production for a recent band that has come back together called RAWLY. This band was the original with the legacy of Chino who passed away last year. Chino was loved throughout the community. We provided an auction at his memorial event for studio time and we are pleased that it made its way back to the original band that Chino was a part of. Stay tuned in to here these tracks. We have tracked drums and bass. Guitar and vocals next week!
