~Happy Birthday The Hotness , which is MAXWELL~

Gerald Maxwell Rivera. Born May 23, 1973 Brooklyn, New York, United States Genres R&B, soul, neo soul, quiet storm, funk, jazz Occupations Singer–songwriter, record producer Instruments Vocals, piano, guitar, Labels Columbia Records Maxwell is a Grammy award-winning American singer-songwriter, record producer and multi-instrumentalist. His music spans R&B, funk and soul, but he is best known as one of the exemplars of the subgenre neo-soul movement of the latter 1990s. After a successful debut album Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite, he released Embrya, Now and a live album MTV Unplugged. After an eight-year hiatus, he returned with the platinum-selling BLACKsummers'night, the first of a trilogy. He has received 12 Grammy nominations with two wins. Maxwell was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of a Haitian mother and a Puerto Rican father. His mother grew up in a devout Baptist household in Haiti. Maxwell's father died in a plane crash when Maxwell was three years old. The experience made him a deeply religious child, and he began singing in his Baptist church; however, he did not really get serious about music until age 17. He began writing his own songs using a cheap keyboard given to him by a friend. Initially influenced by early-1980s urban R&B, Maxwell progressed rapidly, and by 1991 he was performing on the New York City club scene. Maxwell was able to gain access to a 24-track recording studio and started to record songs for a demo tape, which he circulated among his friends. The demo engendered interest, and his official debut concert performance at Manhattan nightclub Nell's drew a crowd. During the next two years, Maxwell wrote and recorded over three hundred songs and played frequently at small venues throughout New York City. Maxwell's performances continued to draw interest and increase the buzz about him, and he was called "the next Prince" by a writer from Vibe magazine who attended one of his shows. Snippet of Will Downing

29.11.1963- Will Downing born in Brooklyn, graduate of Erasmus Hall H.S.

Vocalist and composer Downing has hovered on the cusp of stardom since the late '80s, occasionally making some arresting album cuts but never the major hit or string of records he needed to establish himself. Downing sang in Arthur Baker's "Wally Jump Junior" group, and then employed Baker as his producer when he signed with Island. He did session work in the early and mid-'80s, singing on dates with Daryl Payne, Marc Sadane, Warp 9, and Jennifer Holiday. Downing's 1988 debut, Will Downing, included a revised version of John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme." Downing recorded and produced a duet with British soul songstress Mica Paris in 1989, remaking "Where Is the Love." His second release, Come Together as One, was in more of an urban contemporary mode, but his third one took a jazz-oriented turn. Released in 1991, A Dream Fulfilled included an ambitious version of War's "The World Is a Ghetto." He has been a favorite of audiences in England, releasing Pleasures of the Night in 1998 and All the Man You Need two years later. Sensual Journey from 2002 found him recording for the GRP label. Emotions arrived in 2003 and was followed a year later by the holiday album Christmas, Love and You. Soul Symphony arrived in 2005.

In late 2006, Downing was diagnosed with polymyositis -- a disorder causing weakness in joints and muscles. As a result, Downing recorded the majority of his vocals for 2008's After Tonight from a wheelchair. Buoyed by fan support, Downing continued to struggle against the disease and released the soulful Classique in 2009, followed by Lust, Love & Lies (An Audio Novel) on the Concord imprint in 2010. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFUb8R-PsRA

~RARE GROOVE SNIPPET ~

About Rare groove Musical Genre Rare groove is defined as very hard to source or relatively obscure soul or jazz music. Rare groove is primarily associated with funk, jazz and pop, but is also connected to sub-genres including jazz fusion, Latin jazz, soul, R&B, northern soul, and disco. Vinyl records that fall into this category generally have high re-sale prices. Rare groove records have been sought after by not only collectors and lovers of this type of music, but also by hip hop artists and producers. Online music retailers sell a wide selection of rare groove at more affordable prices, offering fast downloads in digital format. This availability and ease of access has brought about a resurgence of the genre in recent years.

History and development[edit]

Collecting rare vinyl records is an important aspect of the rare groove scene The term was coined by British DJ Norman Jay after his "The Original Rare Groove Show" on pirate radio station Kiss 94 FM (the progenitor of Kiss 100 London). The show was a collaboration with DJ Judge Jules and featured a mainly urban soundtrack from the 70s and 80s mixed with early house music.

The rare groove scene began when DJs presented an eclectic mix of music that placed a particular emphasis on politically articulate dance-funk recordings connected to the Black Power movement. Pirate radio stations and DJs participated in a "recovery, repackaging and retrieval" of obscure music that reflected, related to or translated inequalities of race and gender and the struggles of the civil rights movement. Music that had failed to have gained acceptance in a previous time was given a "new lease of life" by DJs on pirate radio stations. Rare groove also provided a musical space where the 'symbolic capital' of the music became very important. Copy n paste to read more :-) https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rare-groove/105516802815885#

Going In Circles

Besides memories of good times/special life events, the only other thing worth reminiscing about/replaying is the music. But alas, the music sometimes takes you to a place that's best left alone/ forgotten; due to the over inflated ego of some & their inability to truly forgive, live & let be... How dare a grain of sand consider itself the whole beach! http://youtu.be/CAmcCdvZCDg

How I'm feeling right now :-))

YOOOOOOWZAAAAAH!

~MUSIC~

It's about the music and how it makes me feel. Where every note rest, resonates sets off a chain reaction of peace, calm, happiness, pure joy; Music is beautiful, sometimes poignant, always medicinal, mending, fixing. It allows me to drift into as many gardens, places &wonderful sspaces as I choose. Music helps me to make sense of a whole load of stuff, which is jumbled before I put on my headphones :-) There's so many vibrant colours and tones to music. I catch them vividly in my mind's eye. What a wonderful palette! Yes, I am splashed in colour ,life, creativity, love, forgiveness, letting go, solutions, deeper understanding & love/ acceptance of an imperfect me. It's okay to be me without apology. And it's okay to be you :-).As it flows through, music inspires and evokes a more vivid expression and picture of the contours and imaginings of me. I listen, I write. Music causes my spirit to sing, hope & love life everyday.

Even if it's never heard or read, or sung, or seen, be inspired & passionate about even the simplest of things. Be inspired to show the simply beautiful, extraordinarily unsung side of you . Start with a Winter's breeze blowing peace into the morning rush hour, making everything alright. The delays meant I didn't get there on time, but the peace and calm the wind brought will stay with me all day . The Isley brothers embraced this way of thinking and produced beautiful timeless classics such as; Summer Breeze http://youtu.be/T88fbHOmvRk
