WIN TIX TO SEE US WITH SOUTHERN CULTURE ON THE SKIDS IN BALTIMORE ON 10;/13!

We Clams are opening for one of our all-time heroes, North Carolina's iconic Southern Culture On the Skids, next Thursday, October 14. S.C.O.T.S. is pure redneck Americana at its absolute finest, and it's like Christmas Eve to be sharing the stage with them. And, to make it even better, the show takes place at Baltimore Sound Stage (128 Market Space, Balt), the hottest new live music venue in Charm City! And we want YOU there! So, we're giving you the chance to win a pair of tickets to the show. Pretty simple to enter, since we're pretty lazy. All you need to do is send an email to Clams@Atlanticbb.net and tell us who you think would win in an MMA Cage Match and why: Barack Obama or Hank WIlliams Jr. The two responses we like best will each win a pair of tickets to join us in Baltimore next Thursday, as well as a signed copy of our latest album, Raw Barn. Contest ends @ 3pm Eastern Time on Wednesday, October 12. Winners will be notified via email. Show is all ages, but you gotta be 18 to win. Enter as many times as you want, but this isn't about quantity; it's about creativity. Winners need to show valid photo ID to claim their tix at the Sound Stage Box Office. Any other related expenses are the sole responsibility of the winner. And if you wanna skip all the bullshit and just buy your tickets now, click here before they're all gone: www.baltimoresoundstage.com/calendar/ That's it. Good luck. We're all counting on you. -RC

Studio Time

Yeah, it's about fucking time that we got our asses back into the studio, right? After a jam-packed summer of Clam shows, we set aside some time in October to punch out an EP of four new tracks that have become highlights of our live shows:

-Buy Me An Island -Southbound Breeze -Sand On the Tires -Aliens From Outer Space

We'll be working once again with Les Lentz at LSP Studios in Cordova, MD. Les is not only a brilliant producer, but he's also a professional beer drinker and hellraiser, which means that he gets us, and that ain't easy. Plus, we've got a few good cameos planned as well.

So, stay tuned. We will add the new tracks to iTunes before Thanksgiving, but first we'll give our Reverb Nation fans an opportunity to download them for free. Because we love them, that's why.

See y'all real soon.

2011 HFStival: Full Lineup

Since the HFS website is harder to navigate than the clasp on a WonderBra, here is the HFStival lineup, in its entirety...

Tennis System 14. Lloyd Dobler Effect 15. FUNKMNKYZ 16. The Justin Trawick Group 17. Roadhouse Clams 18. Harp & Eagle

Ch-ch-ch Changes...

Hey!

Hope your summer is stroking along nicely so far. We've been hard at it, enjoying the juicy goodness of mid-Atlantic dock and beach bars, and writing songs and lusting after bikinis and solid-lifter V8 motors in our spare time.

Got a lot to cover here, so lemme get right to it:

THE NEW LINEUP

Funny how things work out. We lost our old drummer in May, after Reverend John decided to leave and become an island missionary in the North Pacific. And, after much begging, pleading, whining, coercing, and political bribing, we were able to convince drummer JJ Goodman to join. JJ was, by far, our first choice, and getting him to agree to be a Clam was like waking up on Christmas morning to find that shiny yellow Suzuki RM 100 under the tree. JJ is the 2nd coming of Charlie Watts, with rock solid timing, and ninja-like feel and groove. The difference he made was impressive, from day one.

So then, after bassist Bucket Owens was injured in June at a chicken wing and Natty Boh throwdown, we brought original Clams 4-stringer Derek Daytona back to fill in at the Kend Island gig. Derek is one of the locked-in bassists we've ever heard, and it was a coup to get him, even just for the fill in. And lemme tell you: Pairing Derek with JJ was like pairing chocolate with peanut butter, or Doritos and tequila with fine Northern California Sensimilla--a monumental match.

THEN, we had to do without Lightning for a spell when he was detained in Jamaica after an incident with an overzealous ox cart and a bottle of Appleton's, so we had Bucket make a spot start on lead guitar at Harbor Shack's Rock Hall 4th of July weekend show. And, Whoa Nelly! That boy can PLAY! Clapton-esque solos, bad-assed slide guitar, even throwing some nice acoustic in there. He was poetry in musical motion.

It's incredible how things happen sometimes. The result of these unforeseen detours is that we now have the most wicked-assed rhythm section on the East Coast with Derek and JJ, and a lights-out guitar duo in Lightning and Bucket. These changes allow Scoutmaster to focus more on mandolin, and allow yours truly to be more dialed in with my vocals and rhythm guitar.

This lineup is lethal; the best the Clams have ever sounded. The comments we're getting from the audiences so far are off the hook, and merch and CD sales are spiking. If you ain't yet heard the Clams as a 6-piece, I hope we'll see you soon. --- NEW ALBUM

We're finally in pre-production for the Clams next release, and recording will begin real soon. Working title is "Flabby Road", and we're looking at 12 new homegrown tracks, most of which we've been performing live for the past few months.

Here is what we're looking at, track-wise:

1) Buy Me an Island 2) Big Black Beast 3) Sexual Innuendo Blues 4) Tiki Barbarian 5) Welcome to Me 6) Ballad of Courtney's Thong 7) Survive 8) But I Do 9) Over the Weather 10) Southbound Breeze 11) Pave the Bay 12) Aliens from Outer Space

Shooting to have this out and ready for public consumption by the holiday season, but a lotta shit has to go just right for that to happen! Stay positive. --- SHOWS We're just about 2 months out from the 2011 HFStival (9/17 @ Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD). The lineup is slick, with Avett Brothers, Diane Birch, Gin Blossoms, Clutch, Minus the Bear, Flogging Molly, and a ton more, including your Roadhouse Clams. Slide on out and make the scene, daddy-o.

We've also got some big things cooking for the Fall, but until then, there are some cool outdoor performances at tiki bars and festivals, because it's still SUMMER!!!

That's more than plenty for now. Thanks for supporting The Roadhouse Clams and indie music, and we hope to see you real soon.

Let's Get Caught Up

Greetings from Clam County USA!

Lots and lots has happened since we last spoke.

Where to begin....

First of all, we parted ways with our beloved bassist Thick back in January. It was a friendly separation; he left to pursue a new career as an incumbent government stabilizer in the Middle East. So far, so good.

We looked high and low for our new 4-stringer, and auditioned everyone from Les Claypool to the nerdy tech guy from those Verizon Wireless commercials. Finally, we settled on the very best bassist available....that we could afford. Bucket Owens is our new guy, coming to us from Southeast VA. A hell of a player and the 2004 Nobel Prize winner for Microwavable Meals.

Moving right along, we recently sold our 1,000th copy of Raw Barn. The CD continues to get solid airplay from local, college, and online radio stations. Thanks to all the PDs with the cajones to play us.

In other news, we were in NYC in February to receive the coveted Nation's Sexiest Band for 2010 from the editors of Braille Monthly Magazine. We are truly blessed.

Big shows aplenty in 2011. Keep an eye on the calendar.

2011 Season kicks off this Saturday, 3/26 at the legendary Dante's in Frostburg, MD. Hope you mountain dwellers can make it out.

Shells Up!

welcome, Bucket! and it's fitting that the captcha thing at the bottom of this reply is charles mingus.

What a Year!

First of all, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped make 2010 such a killa first year for us Clams.

We played some amazing shows with top bands, released our first full-length CD, made it onto some very fine radio playlists, worked with some brilliant photographers, and got intimate with the greatest fans a crappy alt-country blues band could ever ask for.

Here in December 2010, we're the top-ranked country artist in our area, we've got some big 2011 shows scheduled up and down the coast, album sales are nice and healthy, and we've just about finished writing our follow up album (working title "Flabby Road"). Life is grand.

Currently, the band is on break until the new year, and we're doing some writing with a few friends, some jamming with a few friends, and some drinking with a few friends, and trying to stay warm. Pacifico is working on his lap-steel skills, Scoutmaster is recording demo tracks about this one chick's thong, Rev John is blessing a new bottle of Patron Anejo, and Lightning is holed up in a beach condo with his woman. Thick's whereabouts are unknown, but none of us have been called for bail money recently, so we're not stressing.

We wanna wish all of you a very happy, safe, and prosperous holiday season. May you find peace and happiness wherever you go, whether it be a strip club, or your in-law's house. Celebrate your socks off, and have a plan that doesn't include driving if you're knocking them back. We want to see you all in one piece at our 2011 shows.

Hugs,

-RC
