Crashville Skyline / Will Dockery

Recording vocals on our new song "Crashville Skyline" tonight!

Crashville Skyline

Verse: Am, F, G, Am / Chorus: C, G, F, G

Hitting bottom again It's a state of grace. Cold snap to my judgement Face to Face.

Flying high Flying low. Flying where I know I have to go.

Pretty little shards Clean shaven moon Crashville Skyline on a blank dawn.

She held her hand against the glass. Game of numbers so high to lose.

I hesitate to call her name. Deep humid night sick wildflower smell.

Godspeed Hex Sniper in my Psyche. Crashville Skyline Wind from the East.

Watch her knocking cross the Village Green. Frayed pitch stopped way too short.

Her eternal beauty weary and so wary. Crashville Skyline Reconstruct my heart.

Gone Too Far

There's a wind from Russia blowing over Alaska Bay. Old man in the big house won't have it any other way.

He say "Da da da, they've gone too far..." People are worried--- wondering where they'll hide. Dark forces at work. illuminating the night.

The ladies dance the Maypole across the divide. Banks are a'falling while I stand in line. He say "Da da da, they've gone too far..." People at the shelter--- they're working real hard.

Time waits for no man but it stands stock still for me. Dark forces at work in levels of history.

Big bear come a'stomping and he's coming for you. He's on the phone with the Devil and he wants what's due. He say "Da da da, they've gone too far..."

People are worried--- wondering where they'll hide. Dark forces at work. across the divide.

Hazel's Hex / Will Dockery

Hazel's Hex

She holds her hand against the glass. Before she gets too much memory. This game of numbers chances so high to lose.

I hesitate to call her name. Deep humid night sick wildflower smell. Watch her knocking across the Village Green I feel a sinking inside.

Looked into her eyes like a night move to hold her. But that's not possible. Frayed pitch I must have thought I'd tried but I stopped way short.

Her beauty is eternal being weary and so wary. Reconstruct my heart. Or something like revisionist memory since it was nothing but scrambled dogs and chitter-chat.

Beltane Cruelties / Will Dockery

Beltane Cruelties

So if it is not for me to speak to her Iconic Wayward Muse who smiles by Alabama campfire South of town by a number of miles.

Shaken by her ragged beauty painted up with long time no see. She sings rock and roll now out of sight fresh rolled in deep country.

She's in love now he wishes her the best and him besides no reason for forgiveness no reason to cry.

So he can smoke another cigar Stuffed with something green and fine Riding the white elephant shotgun Catching darkness, memory weavers.

Rock and Roll heaven welcomed the new members One said stop the bomb one cuts across shortly while the other touches herself quietly.

Let them say more in the creation of art although bottom line's purpose is to sell. The ornament rings like a chime and the little child smiles.

At the country fair and with his fair cold judgement A truly vicious Mister Freeze taking what has become his by trickery

Derailed the couplement what happened next couldn't be compared to the sun and moon or even the earth and sea's rich greens.

Julie came prepared with a loaded pistol and all things rare she needed it Like a Lady in the movie she reminds me of she doesn't blow on some other guy's dice.

Mulberry has cottonmouth troubles Rock and roll heaven's air of mundane good cheer is broken at last in this huge arrival to the halls.

Oh let me take your hand again true in love though in lame duck doldrums truly write you a rock poem valentine. And then you might believe me, my love is as clear as Lucky's tenor.

As any motherless child, or any Major dude though not so bright as either might claim Gold candles in the ranchero window fixed for the Lady, the founder now departed to a level in heaven's air.

-Will Dockery

Notes on Kant: I published a new poem there in Playgrounds http://www.playgroundsmag.com last week, but not here yet because I feel like it needs a lot of work, even for a "draft", but deadline was looming once again as it often has since 1998 and it was fresh and I do like where it's going, so I put it in the May issue.

Now that I have it in print, and thousands of local folks who seem to know me are looking into my head wondering or "knowing" what it all signifies, besides some truly horrible typos in the published version, I'm either not finding the time or inclination to go changing this... Although I fully intend to. And any C & C out there, as it obviously needs it?

So there it is, rough draft... Comments and critique welcomed.

Problems at Salisbury Fair / Will Dockery

Problems at Salisbury Fair

Playing a gambit but still playing it straight. Sent a fluffgirl downstairs shaking her pompador. Silver badged shadow boxing lady cop, she carries a gun. She sits at the piano with a song tight as a nun. Clicking her flashlight working old mimeograph. We face our reflections in the city of fishbowls. Smoking with a journalist over by the window. Drinking strange mead hesitates on delivery. Working underground flimflaming in the fog. Picking minds for breakfast couplets. Shakes her Dickinson hair Strolling by Salisbury Fair.

Crabbed picture reflects as she inspects herself. Winter is rugged on the frail apple-tree. Wrinkled man in a snow cap hip shaking through Spanish Moss.

She quietly turns and runs, from a silly basement bar. Too much fun, it was mostly a waste. Helped her stagger to her trailer after drinking beer and sniffing paste. Some of this and a lot of that she shakes her tits with tats. Grinning from the stage with her over sized dentures. Clicked her door to the night shutting out new adventures. Tight lipped little loser stapling his chapbooks. Shakes her Dickinson hair Strolling by Salisbury Fair.

Clicked his flashlight asked was it him or them. Saw the bloody handprint no flatlander expectations. One gone before she was born the other never born at all they only exist because she remembers them.

He's wound tight by she who intoxicates. The stone bag empty, Sampson follows the thunder. Press her hands back she's flat on her back again. Kiss the space her face is open wide. Stars sparkle bittersweet, dripping from these bearded lips. Boss burbled gobbledegook chewing treacled tobaco. He feeds on her mind like a vulture as she cries out jargon. Shakes her Dickinson hair Strolling by Salisbury Fair.

The Oral Tradition in Poetry

"...Oral tradition and oral lore is cultural material and tradition transmitted orally from one generation to another. The messages or testimony are verbally transmitted in speech or song and may take the form, for example, of folktales, sayings, ballads, songs, or chants. In this way, it is possible for a society to transmit oral history, oral literature, oral law and other knowledges across generations without a writing system." (from Wikipedia)

Talk about the oral tradition of poetry!

I just went in to my files, archives, and so on, to find a lyric post for "Under The Radar" for the Shadowville All-Stars to study up on for the Hogbottom show, and to place chord tabs to... and find that I've never written down the actual words of the song as we perform it.
