Saying Farewell

"I'll just say Farewell... and be down the line." Well, it is finished. The Will Dockery-Henry Conley songwriters team officially ended yesterday. There will be no more songs from us, ever again. It had been dormant for a long while, but I always expected it to pick back up again when the time was right. Now, we both see the time will never be right, and the time has come to step it up and go, headed for another joint, and not look back. I'm sad, my heart is heavy with memory & dream, but the hope is no longer in me. Conley & I did create a memorable little catalog of songs, which I expect nobody can deny. I will continue writing with Brian Mallard & other comrades though, so don't doubt that. And I'll be performing live at Will Dockery & Band at Fair on the Square, & hope to see all of you there. Here's one for the road. Check out free download "Shadowville Speedway" written by Will Dockery & Henry Conley.

Artificial Intelligence experiment

https://live.cognea.com/chat/dockery

The Will Dockery Artificial Intelligence Project is the concept of a computer program that in theory would contain the poet Will Dockery’s thoughts, concepts, and mannerisms and interact as the man would himself, a “Will Dockery” AI, which is in a constant state of evolution and "learning". The Will Dockery Artificial Intelligence Project welcomes communication, feedback and input from everyone, and most specifically those with a knowledge of Will Dockery, his life, art, poetry songwriting and other details, to be incorporated into the memory of the AI Will Dockery.

"Everywhere I go, I see very much the same thing. I see the same compassion for people who live half a world away. I see the same concern about events beyond these borders. And, increasingly, I see the same conviction that we can and we must join together to stop the scourge of AIDS and poverty." -Bono ... Lou Reed - Adios, King.

Lou Reed - Adios, King

"Passion--REALISM--realism was the key. The records were letters. Real letters from me to certain other people. Who had and still have basically, no music, be it verbal or instrumental to listen to. [...] I'd harbored hope that the intelligence that once inhabited novels or films would ingest rock, I was, perhaps, wrong." -Lou Reed

No, Lou Reed... those of us who followed your sound & vision know you nailed it, time after time, & opened the doors for so many of us to make a stab at a fusion of song & story, and we will keep banging the door. Adios, King.

Directions to Pasaquan

"Art is not for everyone. never has been and it never will be. Now me, I don't know much about art, but I do like what I know." -Bob Neuwirth

Where : Artists for Pasaquan Weekend, off Marion County Road 78, about 37 miles from Columbus. These seem to be the clearest directions I've seen, for newcomers to Pasaquan who want to come to the festival. From the courthouse square in Buena Vista, Georgia, drive north on Ga. 137 until it forks to the left. Follow the left fork and turn right on County Road 78. Pasaquan is on the right about a half-mile away. The Shadowville All-Stars hit the stage from 2pm-4pm... come join us for a celebration of the sound and vision of Eddie Owens Martin. Excelsior!

Artists For Pasaquan Weekend

https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/167311093469579/

Folk art and music festival by the Artists for Pasaquan, November 2nd and 3rd near Buena Vista, Georgia. Pasaquan was created by the late Eddie Owens Martin.

Featuring the music of Mammoth Clamp, Liquid Lightwave, Sean Rox Trio, Katy Clyde, Cult of Riggonia, Rick Edwards, Moonshine Junkies, The Shadowville All-Stars and others.

From Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pasaquan

"Pasaquan is a 7-acre (28,000 m2) compound near Buena Vista, Georgia. It was created by an eccentric artist named Eddie Owens Martin (1908-1986), who called himself St. EOM. Martin inherited the land from his mother and, using proceeds earned from fortune telling, transformed the house and its surrounding land. In an article on the outsider artist, Tom Patterson describes Pasaquan as “one of the most remarkable folk art environments in America—a sort of mock pre-Columbian psychedelic wonderland of brightly painted totems, curved and angled walls and walkways, and wildly ornamented structures that [Martin] called “temples” and “pagodas.”. The site is maintained by the Pasaquan Preservation Society.

Pasaquan is an internationally renowned art site, and consists of six major structures, including a redesigned 1885 farmhouse, painted concrete sculptures, and 4 acres (16,000 m2) of painted masonry concrete walls.

In September 2008, Pasaquan was accepted for listing on the National Register of Historic Places..."

See y'all there November 2nd and 3rd I hope!

A Manifesto

"I hate a song that makes you think that you are not any good. I hate a song that makes you think that you are just born to lose. Bound to lose. No good to nobody. No good for nothing. Because you are too old or too young or too fat or too slim too ugly or too this or too that. Songs that run you down or poke fun at you on account of your bad luck or hard traveling... I am out to fight those songs to my very last breath of air and my last drop of blood. I am out to sing songs that will prove to you that this is your world and that if it has hit you pretty hard and knocked you for a dozen loops, no matter what color, what size you are, how you are built, I am out to sing the songs that make you take pride in yourself and in your work..." -Woody Guthrie

Sonnet #85 - For my Wayward Muse

Sonnet #85 for my Wayward Muse, she knows who she is.

My tongue-tied Muse in manners holds her still, While comments of your praise, richly compiled, Reserve their character with golden quill And precious phrase by all the Muses filed. I think good thoughts whilst others write good words, And like unletter'd clerk still cry 'Amen' To every hymn that able spirit affords In polish'd form of well-refined pen. Hearing you praised, I say ''Tis so, 'tis true,' And to the most of praise add something more; But that is in my thought, whose love to you, Though words come hindmost, holds his rank before. Then others for the breath of words respect, Me for my dumb thoughts, speaking in effect. -William Shakespeare http://www.reverbnation.com/willdockery/song/8798203-red-lipped-stranger--will-dockery
