“As an award-winning military Sergeant First Class and Iraq War Veteran who has devoted the last decade to serving the country, you wouldn’t necessarily expect Oklahoma City-based Brian Allen to be a savvy musician, right? But one listen to inspiring piano-driven “Under My Skin” from his debut full-length CD, and the message is clear. Produced by Dennis Patton (associated with Bob Carlisle’s platinum-selling “Butterfly Kisses”), the song offers an intense, driving instrumental palette that chugs along with a wondrously harmonic vocal recording that opens humbly enough—transitioning back and forth between an open force field and muted emotion—before catapulting into a passionate tour de force at the mid-section, as Allan proclaims his lessons learned: “If I had to do it all again, I wouldn’t let you get under my skin.” Indeed, this track is a melodic bull-eye, chock full of emotion and as catchy as a commercial jingle. Bravo!”
