“Relatively new to the Indian Metal scene, Weird Anxiety has released a promising debut. The songs are a tad bit too long and might take couple of extra spins to grow onto you. Nevertheless Act 1 Scene 1 is a fine effort for a debut release. Watch out for this band.

“Categorized under progressive dark metal, the music is completely distinct with a Black Metal essence and a bit of symphonic song structure, excellent guitaring and brutal drumming. The keyboards and bass playing too have been effective, reflecting the hard work of the musicians. ”

“From the extreme (musical taste) regions of India’s far north, Simla where the metal cult is gaining momentum, Weird Anxiety, the Himalyan Black/Dark Metallers who have already earned a stage in the zone with their live performances not only pave a way for other bands from the state but also the country’s other metal projects.”

“Weird Anxiety have always been connected deeply with their work and their debut release very much shows their effort. One of the best musicians from the state, the band has not let the fans down as the E.P. is definitely going to be marked as one of the major contributions to Indian Metal. “The best part that makes me a big Anxiety fan apart from the band’s mighty sound is the vocalist, ‘Plague’ who has been extremely impressive in every song with his vocal abilities and excellent suicidal screams.”

“In a sound that can best be described as dark metal, these talented individuals have been able to produce an uncompromising track list with complex breakdowns, face melting guitar solos, melodic structuring, tight riffing, insane drumming and powerful vocals.

“The front man is one of the highly versatile vocalist I have seen in India. Once you see him doing guttural as low as the sea bed and then he is shrieking as high as Himalayas to where they belong. Brutally fills in with unpredictable pig squeals and grunts.”

“...the synths create the feel while they play and is the pivot for me. The 2 guitar players in the band fill the space with their poly-rhythmic riffs and killer dark song structures.”

“The bassist likes to follow the mellow lines and is good at it and has a nice stage presence. Drummer is worth watching for his work on the throne with the double pedal and the cymbals specially. The usage of cymbals is so very complete and fits the sound and aura greatly...”

“....They even write with dark atmospheric touch to it and keeping the foggy woods of
Himachali Himalayas in their minds and the supernatural element those woods possess for ages. Horns high to them....”

“From a region known for its snow capped peaks and lanky pines obscured in fog, comes a band which has brought the metal scene in the hill state to the national front. In a time, when grunge and punk has been every band’s choice to-be, 6 boys decided to go against the flow and think beyond the mainstream. This is Weird Anxiety for you.”

“A blitzkrieg on the drums, Neanderthal growls and screams mixed with guttural grunts and pig squeals, mellow bass-lines, polyrhythmic riffing accompanied with melancholic, ambient melodies and surreal keyboard tones filling the entire spectrum. This is their sonic kaleidoscope.”

“Their music can best be defined as progressive-dark metal, a music genre truly unique in itself. Their music is so different that no other band on the entire globe fits in this genre. ”
