Voir Dire was originally formed in 2005 under the name "Kiss the Son" by guitarist Riaan du Plessis and drummer (also current vocalist) Francois Nortje. Voir Dire's original vocalist and bassist left the band in 2009, opening up an opportunity to push the band into an exciting new direction. The band was soon afterward joined by Jacques Malan on bass and Ruan Oosthuizen on drums, completing the current line-up.
