1996 in Bend Oregon, the group known as the V.E.R.A. Clique (aka: Very Essence of Real Artists) began to form its members; Anderson Ray, Mascen Apollo and Dan Craig (QBD). Anderson and Mac met at a Bend pool hall called Scratch Shot while MC'n on an open mic night. They exchanged numbers and began to meet regularly to freestyle. Three years later, Macsen moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and Anderson moved to Portland Oregon, always staying in contact. Anderson began making a name for himself as the Answer on Portlands battle circuit (placing 4th out of 32) in his first official pro-battle at Hip-Hop Tonights M.C. Demolition Competition. At the same time Mac was perfecting his craft with friend Dan Craig who he was living with in California. Dan who had a natural talent for producing beats finally gave in to Macs persistant idea of investing in to a small home studio setup which eventually closed the circle that became V.E.R.A. Clique. Numerous trips from Oregon to California convinced Anderson that they could accomplish more if he were to relocate to the Bay Area. After three years apart, Anderson, Macsen and Dan officially formed the V.E.R.A. Clique and began working on their first demo. Nights were spent working on material at an open MIC night at Café Caffecitto in San Jose where they partook in the weekly contests called Lyrical Discipline. It was there that they met other artists like Steve Lazaneo, who taught them about the business and loopholes in the industry. He also introduced them to ASCAP, which taught them about copy writing and royalties. They also met Caesar, a writer for Explosive Magazine who introduced them to other Bay Area Rappers. To date they have performed over two hundred shows including High Schools in Vacaville, Winters and Dixon, clubs in San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento and Oakland and also Clubs and Festivals from Bend to Portland Oregon. Their first album, "Hungry for a Deal" was released on V.E.R.A. Clique's independent label "Veraucracy Ink". The 2nd Vera Clique album has a projected release date of summer '08.
