Bio: The Shore Road Tavern is your typical friendly neighborhood 'dive' bar located in the Wissinoming section of Northeast Philadelphia. Located just a few blocks from the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge, the history of The Shore Road Tavern is linked directly with the construction of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge in 1929. +++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++ The new bridge spanned the Delaware River and connected Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Historic PA Route 73 was then extended to terminate at the bridge, continuing eastward as NJ Route 73 offering Philadelphians an easier and faster route to the New Jersey coastline, or in Philly vernacular "The Shore". This enabled the rapid development of the New Jersey coastline as a recreational destination, and with its' location directly on Route 73, The Shore Road Tavern was born. +++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++ Today the bar remains relatively unchanged since the late 30's with the exception of it's new direction of becoming an intimate honky tonk in the Northeast Philadelphia specializing in American roots music; blues, bluegrass, country, rockabilly, surf, and folk. All run by an old school first generation punk rocker with a DIY ethos. It's an intimate room with a great sound system, exceptional acoustics, cheap drinks, and a friendly diverse crowd. We started doing live events in March of 2012 and, to date, have hosted shows with: +++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++ Husky Burnette Hellbound Glory Molly Gene One Whoaman Band The Arkhams Coffin Fly Tex Railer's Doomtown The Living Deads Full Blown Cherry Steve Trent and his Flat Broke One Man Band Danny Kay and the Nightlifers Big Chris and the Rhythm Ropers Saint Christopher Billy Don Burns Olds Sleeper Dave Lefever Owen Mays Ray Lawrence, Jr. Lone Wolf One Man Band Phillip Roebuck Ten Foot Polecats Jonny Monster Band Toothless George and his One Man Band Cutthroat Shamrock Stevie Tombstone Filthy Still James Hunnicutt The Devil's Cut Dead Ben Rooster The Dead Exs Vinegar Creek Constituency The Missile Toads Mr. Unloved Got Jamn!
