About
Who wants to be categorised? Put in a box? Labelled? No, we don't either... It's got guitars, it's got a potent rhythm section, it's got the sassiest singer this side of the Horsehead Nebula. It's Live Music with an edge. Mellow songs with a message. Sort of bluesy, listening, head buzz, adrenal music with a soft side; a rock massage, if you will. Damned if we know which box it is, but it's us.
So the hardest question is always "what kind of music do TripManhattan play?"
TripManhattan is the musical reincarnation of StripLight which was formed in late 2005 when Simon Hudson, Nigel Downes and Dave Marritt split from their previous band, 'Trusted' and joined with Andy Smith and Jane Watkins!
A name change become necessary in spring 2006 when a London band of the same name signed a record contract, at which point TripManhattan was born.
The band were due to go into the studio in November, but this was cancelled due to Andy's father becoming seriously ill and this uncertainty led to a marked reduction in the bands activities into 2007 when he sadly died, by which time Jane had accepted an offer to work in Spain for 6 months.
This led to a search for a new singer, with Jane's help, resulting in Caroline joining TripManhattan in spring 2007. The following months saw the band rehearse and revise its material to suit Caroline and a slightly edgier and bluesier direction, before beginning live performances again in July 2007.
So don't ask, listen...
