Triple j Unearthed began as a competition to discover and nurture the latest Australian music. It has been running for over a decade and has helped kick start careers of artists such as Killing Heidi, Missy Higgins and Grinspoon. The latest incarnation of Unearthed means that Australian artists can now upload their tracks to the site for everyone to listen to. Triple j continue to run competitions to spotlight particular regions and genres but all the music on the site will continue to grow, making Unearthed the first-stop for anyone looking for fresh new Australian music - which is what it’s been about from the beginning! This Shallow Mercy are a three piece band from Darwin and Melbourne who provide haunting and soaring melodies to power a vehicle for poetry about a world gone mad. A world hard to love. A world where greed and selfishness makes it difficult for many on the planet to survive. A world where wealth is obtained by war .

And yet there is sense of hope through the joyful backdrop provided by guitarist Timmy Cann who meanders like a jazz player with the soul of a blues man. Dramatic counterpoint is created by Jodi Ludwig-Moore through her insightful viola and backing vocals. Deb Lord is the scribe who describes the passion of her lyrics through a soulful voice .

Their combined efforts provide an ethereal mood on which to float away allowing the words to sink into the watching mind and take shape with a reality that is not always easy to look at but describes those truths we shy away from.
