Bio
This Passing Moment is a three piece rock band hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah. Led by Rick Sproul’s haunting baritone vocals and intense modern guitar style, they are often likened to classic post-punk bands such as Bauhaus, the Cure, and Catherine Wheel, as well as more recent bands such as Interpol and Editors.
About
Rick Sproul and Jay Christensen met in 1993 while playing in separate bands on the Salt Lake music scene. When their respective projects fell apart in 1998, they formed Zambu Fly, which enjoyed moderate success in SLC over the next five years. Rick and Jay stayed in contact after Zambu Fly disbanded, and by 2006 they started talking about again creating music together. Jay was playing with Shawn Jacobs in pop/rock combo Go Figure, and they had developed a psychic-like ability to play together. It was only natural that Shawn was recruited for the new project, and he fit right in. Once the band’s lineup was solidified, Rick, Jay, and Shawn spent some time in Jay’s basement crafting their sound, and they are now booking shows in the Salt Lake City area. This Passing Moment is also currently recording its first album together, which is expected to drop in the fall of 2009.
