Lach will be previewing his Edinburgh Alternative Fringe show, 'Up The Anti!' tonight. "Think battered acoustic thrashings, think sarky, smart-mouthed wit and wisdom but most importantly think Lach. Lach is rarely less than a face-ache funny, beat-punk-unplugged joy, and likely to send you home with several favourite new songs"- The Guardian UK Plus: Candythief: Candythief is the musical persona of Diana De Cabarrus. Not long now until Santa comes to visit and that means it’s time for the 2nd annual Haight Ashbury Love Music Christmas Special! This year we have invited some of our favourite performers from past Haight Ashbury’s to bring together what promises to be an astounding night of live music. Feat: William Douglas & The Wheel Miyagi The Glendale Family The Appassionados DJ Fowler Mania First up we have the stunningly beautiful sounds of The Appassionados. This exquisite 7-piece tango band opened the night the last time we played at The City Cafe and it was such a beautiful experience that it wouldn’t be possible to do it again without them. There are rumours that they may even bring some live action tango dancers! Arrive late at your own cost! Headlining the night we have Edinburgh’s unrivalledly finest songwriter Mr. William Douglas and his amazing band The Wheel. The band has recently undergone a slight lineup change which mostly involved adding members of Edinburgh best bands so they are now essentially a supergroup including Daniel McGeever (Alfonzo), Austen George (The Setup, The Alvas), Mike Kearney (Mike Kearney Ka-tet) as well as original legends Ian Stoddart (washboard player to the stars) and Chris Agnew (hardest-working bass player in town). Expect funked-up, Beatlemania-induced, 5-part harmony-laden rock’n’roll of the highest order. Cannot freaking wait!!! Sliding in between we have our most excellent friends The Glendale Family coming all the way from Chester town to warm your heart and rattle your bones with their beautiful, boisterous, harmony-laden folk. No strangers to Haight Ashbury Love Music they never fail to impress and unsurprisingly seem to be winning admirers everywhere they go. And of course at some point your hosts Miyagi will take to the stage with rumours of a complete set of new (or at least nearly new) songs! Watch this space. Giving our resident DJ Lexington III a well-earned night off we will welcome to spin his own blend of country-funk classics DJ Fowler who in his own words is “inexperienced but with impeccable taste”. And in traditional Haight Ashbury Love Music style all of this shall be brought to you for the inflation-busting, low-low, everyday price of £4/3. Get the date in the diary and your finest Christmas glad-rags looked out – it’s going to be a corker!
