Biography
theWANDAS Formed in 2001 and were originally named "Oak Room Dynasty". theWANDAS are comprised of Keith McEechern on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Brent Battey Jr. the 4th on lead guitar, Ross "The Rifleman" Lucivero on Bass, and Petey "Pablo" McElholm on the skins. "After a full year of mistaken identities as an antique furniture dealership, our shows were just filling up with old depressing people who didn't realize we were a band, we had to change our name", said Lucivero. "People in orthopedic shoes were coming in thinking we were auctioning off furniture, anyone who heard our name thought about Pledge cleaner". After their first tour in 2002 and an incident the entire band was involved in known as the "Famous Shoes Store Parking Lot Van Experience", the entire band had a hard time looking one another in the eye for a few months, to break the silence they decided to email each other about the new band name "theWANDAS" in memory of the night and to move forward. "We look back and laugh about that night now, it's no longer an issue" said McEachern while smoking a Marlboro Red cigarette and simultaneously packing his lip with Skoal Citrus tobacco. He lifted his shirt to reveal a series of nicotine patches "Helps me keep it to under 2 packs a day".
Most recently theWANDAS teamed up with Patrick Krief (The Dears) who produced their EP "You Should Have Listened". The EP is to be released in December 2007 and contains 4 new tracks.
To follow the release of the EP, theWANDAS will release video of an exclusive concert at the Paradise, in Boston MA produced by Purevolume.com.
"The new tracks are great man, we spent a full week in the studio burning the midnight oil pounding back 30 packs and not eating solid foods. Pretty sure by the end of it I was close to having scurvy but it was worth it," said McEachern, the lead singer. The new EP mixed by Clement Goulet (no relation to the late Robert Goulet) is comprised of the hardest work and most passion that theWANDAS have ever put out. Currently working on booking a new tour, theWANDAS have spray painted their 15 passenger van cammoflage, not to hide but rather to let the world know that there's a new A-Team in town and if you don't give the new EP a listen, then "I pity the fool."
In 2006 theWANDAS recorded "Can't Say Danger on The Radio" with several monumental tracks. In promotion they drove a giant ice cream truck around blasting the music to see what people would think. Driving by a skating rink, they saw several people slow skating to the epic jams. People of all walks of life were getting down to the new grooves. Later that year, theWANDAS were approached by the producers of the movie "We Got The Beat" to record "The One Thing" an early INXS hit.
In 2004 the band went to Canada to record their first record in Halifax Nova Scotia, at The Mullet with Charles Austin (Super Friendz) and Jay Lapointe (North of America). They were just getting started when their on-stage hype man (Charles "Charlie Horse" McCrackin) collapsed from a night of rock n' roll antics. Without their hype man, they managed to finish recording the LP "If The Accident Will" named after an accidental consumption of 3 bottles of cough syrup by the late hype man, sending him into a Syd Barret like never ending trip of madness. theWANDAS were featured in "Concrete Cowboys" a documentary on the sport of street luge. In 2004 theWANDAS song "Headlines" was also featured in the Major League Baseball Allstar wrap up video.
